According to legend, Nezha is the third son of Li Jing, the king of pagoda, and one of the disciples of Taiyi Zhenren. He went to sea when he was only three years old and caused great trouble. He trampled down the Crystal Palace and caught a dragon to cramp and scrape its scales. Later, Taiyi Zhenren took the lotus root and made it his Bones, lotus leaves as his muscles, brought Nezha back to life. Later, Nezha wanted to kill the King of Heaven and avenge the evisceration. Thanks to the Tathagata who made peace and gave the King of Heaven a pagoda, so that Nezha could regard the Buddha as his father, the hatred between father and son was resolved. Nezha is young but has great magical power. He can transform into three heads and six arms. He rides on a hot wheel, wields a golden gun in his hand, wears a circle of heaven and earth on his neck, and has a demon-slaying sword, a demon-slaying knife, a demon-binding rope, a demon-subduing pestle, a hydrangea ball, etc. Six magic weapons with many changes. "Journey to the West" He is the third son of Li Jing, the King of Pagoda. He looks like a young man, but has great powers. He once participated in the crusade against Sun Wukong and returned with a great defeat. "The Romance of the Gods" says: One day Nezha went to the Jiuwan River in the East China Sea to bathe. He placed the treasure "Qiankun Circle" given by Master Taiyi in the water and played with it, causing the Dragon Palace of the East China Sea to be shaken. The Dragon King hurriedly sent the patrolling Yaksha to investigate, and Nao Nezha was beaten to death. Ao Bing, the third prince of the Hou Dragon King, mobilized his dragon soldiers to fight with him, but was killed by Nezha. The Dragon King promised the Jade Emperor to capture his parents. Nezha beat him again in front of the Tiangong gate. Later, in order to show that his actions had nothing to do with his parents, he took his flesh and returned it to his mother and his bones to his father. After his death, his master Taiyi Zhenren resurrected Nezha's soul through lotus flowers. He was also given a fire-tipped spear and a hot-fire wheel under his feet. The wife of Li Jing, the commander-in-chief of Chentangguan, gave birth to a fleshy ball after three years and six months of pregnancy. Suddenly there was a bright light, and a boy jumped out of it. Li Jing was unhappy, but a Taoist priest named Taiyi Zhenren came to congratulate him. He named the child Nezha and accepted him as his disciple. He gave him two treasures on the spot: the Qiankun Circle and the Huntian Ling. When Nezha was seven years old, there was a drought and the earth was cracking. The Dragon King of the East China Sea refused to drop any water, and even ordered Yaksha to go to the seaside and rob boys and girls. The next day, the Dragon King of the Four Seas led his sailors and generals to stir up trouble and flood Chentangguan. He asked Li Jing to hand over Nezha before withdrawing his troops. Nezha wanted to fight back, but Li Jing stopped him and took away Nezha's two magic weapons. Nezha stood up and committed suicide in grief and anger for the safety of the people in the city. Afterwards, Master Taiyi borrowed lotus flowers and fresh lotus roots as his body to revive Nezha. According to scholars’ research, Nezha was the first to write Nezha, and more appeared in the Tang Dynasty and thereafter In the Buddhist scriptures related to Bishamon. "Nezha" is a name with a foreign pronunciation, which means that it is not native to China. It turns out that Nezha is indeed an imported god’s name. He was originally a god in Buddhism. The "Mantra of the Protector of the Dharma of King Bishamonten in the North" translated by the Tang Dynasty monk Da Guangzhifu Kong calls Nezha the third son of King Bishamonten. There are other records about Nezha that appear in Buddhist scriptures of the Tang Dynasty, such as "At that time, Prince Nezha held a halberd in his hand and saw all directions with evil eyes", "Nezha held a pagoda and followed the king of heaven"... There are not many details from these Buddhist scriptures. From the detailed records, we can learn some things about him, such as his life experience and his role.
Due to the prosperity of worshiping Buddhism in the Tang Dynasty, the deeds of the third son of the Heavenly King in the Buddhist scriptures were widely spread and began to become a character in Tang Dynasty notebook novels. For example, the "Kaiyuan Chuan Ji" written by Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty recorded the story of monk Xuanlu meeting Nezha on the road. This should be the earliest story about Nezha's deeds recorded in Tang Dynasty notebook novels besides Buddhist scriptures, but the traces of inheritance are very obvious.
