The traditional bonding method of belt joints is made by hot vulcanization. Hot vulcanization joints require the use of RIT hot vulcanized core glue, RIT hot vulcanized surface glue and hot vulcanized glue.
The core glue is laid on the core layer of the belt, such as between the fabric layers of the layered belt and between the steel wire rope cores of the steel wire belt, to achieve the functions of filling and bonding, and has good bonding and grip with the core layer. , to avoid steel wire core pulling and fabric peeling, so that the part of the belt that should bear force can play its own role.
Top glue is also called cover glue. It can be divided into upper cover glue and lower cover glue on the surface of the belt. It has high tensile and wear resistance and plays a role in protecting and improving the strength of the joint.
Hot vulcanized glue can also be called hot vulcanized glue, such as the common layered belt hot vulcanized glue SK813, steel wire belt hot vulcanized glue SK823, etc. Hot vulcanized glue has good fluidity and viscosity. After painting, it can penetrate into the gaps between the core layer of the belt and the rubber material, eliminating air bubbles inside the joint and making the internal structure of the joint tight after being heated and pressure-vulcanized by the vulcanizing machine. , the bonding strength is improved.
Belt bonding is carried out through hot vulcanization. This joint can reach 90% of the original belt strength and meet the requirements for belt use of any strength, especially in steel wire belts and medium- and high-strength layered belt joints. In order to ensure the use effect, hot vulcanization must be used.
The development time of cold-bonded joints is relatively short, because with the development of the adhesive industry, glues suitable for bonding between rubber conveyor belts, cold-bonded repairs, and cold-bonded joint materials have been gradually developed. be promoted and applied.
The cold bonding method widely used at this stage is called cold vulcanization bonding.
Cold vulcanization bonding requires cold vulcanization adhesives, RIT repair strips with semi-vulcanized layers and other products.
The RIT repair strip with a semi-vulcanized layer can protect the core layer of the damaged part of the belt and restore the structural strength of the belt to a certain extent. It is used to stick to the gap at the overlap of the joint when cold bonding the belt joint. On the belt joints, covering them with repair strips can prevent the joints from being scratched and peeled by the cleaner, thereby protecting and extending the service life of the belt joints. The semi-vulcanized layer on the back of the RIT repair strip can be integrated with the cold vulcanized glue SK313 to undergo a rapid vulcanization reaction at room temperature, further improving the bonding strength of the glue.
However, cold bonding of belt joints is only suitable for medium and low-strength layered belts and canvas belts. Steel wire belts and PVC/PVG whole-core flame-retardant conveyor belts must be hot vulcanized.
