He was afraid that things would change over time, so he wrote to the court, resigned from his post and retired due to his frailty, and moved his family from Xuancheng to Liuru Village (Xiuyetang), Yanling Township, Danyang County, Jiangsu Province today. Yue Lin also concealed his name as Gong, practiced literature and martial arts with Gong Zuwen's two sons Gong Tie and Gong Xian, and lived an indifferent life of planting willows and raising fish.
