Tang Weixing’s personal experience

Tang Weixing was born in 1993 in Guiyang, Guizhou. The name itself is related to Go. Tang Weixing's mother's surname is Wei. Her father, who loves Go, cleverly borrowed the "wei" sound when naming her, and "star" comes from the nine star positions in Go.

Learned chess at the age of 5 and went to Beijing at the age of 7. He entered the Nie Weiping Go Dojo and Xingze Go School successively. At the age of 12, he won the championship of the 18th National "Wanbao Cup" Amateur Go Competition and the "Qingyinghui Cup" ( Yellow River Cup) champion, and won the 19th National "Wanbao Cup" Amateur Go Championship for the second year. Then he went to Japan to participate in the 27th "JAL Cup" World Amateur Go Championship and won the runner-up.

On July 24, 2006, the National Go Tournament ended in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province after 13 rounds of fierce battles. Tang Weixing, a young Guiyang chess player who is in the limelight, finally won the first-level professional title after arduous battles and three consecutive years of defeats, and successfully embarked on the road to professional Go.

In 2007, he represented the Beijing Emerging Real Estate Team in the China Go League A.

In 2009, he played 15 times on behalf of the emerging real estate team, with 9 wins and 6 losses. Participated in the Weijia League since 2007, with a total record of 19 games and 10 wins.

In August 2012, Tang Weixing participated in the first Bailing Aito Cup World Open, and successively defeated Huang Yunsong 2nd Dan, Park Zhengxiang 9th Dan, and Dang Yifei 4th Dan, advancing to the semi-finals.

In 2013, at the 18th "Samsung Auto Insurance Cup" World Go Masters, Tang Weixing triumphed all the way from the preliminaries, defeating famous Go players including South Korea's Park Young-hun and Kim Ji-suk. In the semi-finals, he faced the world champion in three games. Yue, after losing one game first, won two games in a row and entered the final. The third round of the finals was held in Suzhou. Tang Weixing faced the previous champion and South Korean king chess player Lee Sedol. In the first game, Tang Weixing narrowly defeated Lee Sedol 9th-dan with black half-eyes. In the second game, Tang Weixing defeated Lee Sedol with white mid-set and won the championship 2-0. Tang Weixing became China's 14th Go world champion and received a championship bonus of 300 million won. According to the regulations of the Chinese Chess Academy, players who win the Professional Go World Series are promoted to the ninth dan. Tang Weixing was promoted to the ninth dan in 2013 by winning the Samsung Cup.

The 30th Tongli Cup Chinese Go Tianyuan Tournament started at the China Chess Academy to decide the challenger. Tang Weixing’s 9th-dan victory in the middle game defeated Guli’s 9th-dan and won the right to challenge. In April 2016, he will compete in three chess finals with the reigning "Tian Yuan" Chen Yaoye 9th Dan to compete for this year's "Tian Yuan" title.
