At the end of 2003, Lishu County had a total population of 775,431, including 172,943 non-agricultural populations, covering an area of ??3,940 square kilometers. In 2005, some administrative divisions of Siping City were adjusted (Si Zheng Fa [2005] No. 19): Yehe Manchu Town in Lishu County was placed under the jurisdiction of Tiedong District; Shijiabao Town in Lishu County was placed under the jurisdiction of Tiedong District; Jiujianfang Village, Xibada Village, Dongbada Village, Guyushu Village, Haiqing Village and Tiaozihe Village in Dafangshen Township are placed under the jurisdiction of Pingxi Township, Tiexi District. After the adjustment, the urban area of ??Siping increased from 407 square kilometers to 741 square kilometers, and the population increased from 530,000 to 582,000; the area of ??Tiedong District increased from 307 square kilometers to 572 square kilometers, and the population increased from 280,000 to 280,000. 312,000 people; the area of ??Tiexi District increased from 101 square kilometers to 169 square kilometers, and the population increased from 250,000 to 270,000.

Note: According to Ji Minxing Approval [2005] No. 7, Shiling Town in Lishu County has been included in Tiedong District of Siping City, but there is no operation and it is still counted in Lishu County.

In April 2021, Lishu County was selected into the second Top 100 Chinese Cultural Counties in 2021.

In January 2021, the 2020 rural revitalization communication influence county rankings were released, and Lishu County ranked 95th.

In October 2020, Lishu County was selected into the first batch of national digital rural pilot areas.

In January 2019, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs recognized Lishu County as the third batch of demonstration counties (cities and districts) in the country that were the first to basically realize the full mechanization of major crop production.

In February 2018, Lishu County was included in the list of counties (cities, districts) with basically balanced development of compulsory education nationwide in 2017.

In May 2017, the first batch of animal husbandry green development demonstration counties was released, and Lishu County was on the list.

In 2005, Lishu County ranked seventh among the top 100 meat-producing counties in the country.

In 2004, Lishu County ranked fourth among the top 100 grain-producing counties in the country.
