Li Lianghui is from Yangjiang, Guangdong. The founder of Yangjiang Shibazi Group and current chairman of the company, he is the representative inheritor at the provincial and municipal levels of "Yangjiang Knife Making Technique" on the Guangdong Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Because the Eighteen Knives are known as "China's No. 1 Knife", Li Lianghui is known as the "Chinese Knife King".
On December 11, 1934 in the lunar calendar during the war-torn and turbulent years, Li Lianghui was born in a shack at the end of the alley of Youershe, Huahao Street in the south of Yangjiang County. The fortune teller who named him said that he was destined to bring iron, and that in the future he would either carry guns and cannons to fight as an errand, or work as a blacksmith making knives and scissors. Perhaps it was somewhat true: Li Lianghui went to Blacksmith Alley to learn skills from a master before he entered school at the age of 10. However, due to his young age, Master Chen refused to accept him for the time being, asking him to study well first and then learn skills later. His parents did not agree with him learning art at such a young age, so they sent him to a private school. But he felt boring about those "non-sensical things", but he was a little smart about mathematics. He especially loves to draw, such as kitchen knives, knives, scissors, hoes, shovels, axes, etc. Once after school, he was trapped in the school because of the rain. He took the lead and messed up the wall of the study room with his classmates. A lifelike large kitchen knife was his masterpiece! The next day, the old gentleman discovered this and felt that Li Lianghui was too naughty and had no intention of learning, so he visited his home. The parents also felt that their son was not good enough to study, so they accepted the old man's suggestion and asked their son to drop out of school. Since then, 12-year-old Li Lianghui has learned blacksmithing from Master Chen, learned traditional knife forging skills, and laid a solid foundation in basic skills.
With the birth of New China, Li Lianghui’s family also lived happily. In 1955, Li Lianghui, who was in his early 20s, was assigned by the government to join the First Knife Production Cooperative as an individual knife production worker. Because he had seven or eight years of blacksmithing experience, coupled with his daily hard work and hard work, and the ability to learn the true skills from his master, he gained the attention of the leadership as soon as he entered the factory and was appointed as a workshop technician. The knowledge learned before liberation can now be used. He loves to use his brain and delve into research, and is always better than others in transforming the knife-making techniques and equipment of his predecessors. While working in this factory, he was inspired by the winnowing machine and researched, designed, and produced an electric blower, which ended the thousands of years of hand-pulled bellows history in one fell swoop. He saw that the impeller of the blower would still rotate after the power was turned off, and an idea flashed back to him: Ah, electric. Using electricity to drive the whetstone, wouldn't it be possible to open the knife edge by hand? With his personal efforts, an electric knife sharpening machine was finally successful! Yangjiang No. 1 Knife Cooperative has realized semi-mechanized operation for the second time after electric blowers.
