China has three major ancient porcelain capitals, namely Dehua, Fujian, Jingdezhen, Jiangxi, and Liling, Hunan.
Only Dehua, Fujian, is the only "porcelain capital of the world". Dehua has been successively named by the State Council and the United Nations Awarded the title of Porcelain Capital.
In 1996, it was named the "Hometown of Chinese Ceramics" by the Development Research Center of the State Council of China. In 2015, it was selected as the "Ceramic Capital of the World" by the World Handicraft Council of UNESCO.
In 2019, Dehua has more than 3,000 ceramic companies, Dehua has a population of 300,000, and more than 100,000 ceramic-related workers. One out of every two people in Dehua is engaged in ceramic-related work. It has a history of exporting ceramics for thousands of years and is sold to more than 190 countries and regions around the world. It is the country's largest production and export base for ceramic handicrafts and a national-level export ceramic quality and safety demonstration zone. It has been rated as China's Porcelain Capital, the Hometown of Chinese Folk Culture and Art, and China's Famous Ceramic Historical and Cultural City.

During the ancient shipwrecks Nanhai No. 1 and Taixing, numerous precious cultural relics of Dehua ceramics were salvaged.
Dehua’s white reputation in China has already spread overseas and is well-known around the world. Chinese white is written into European textbooks.
