Where the ancients lived, they generally liked to choose places with high terrain. When naming a place, we like to observe its natural features first, then derive it, and finally give it certain social and cultural significance.
In the pre-Qin period, places with "autumn" as their place names were generally distributed in the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain, which is the core area of what we usually call "Three Emperors and Five Emperors" activities.
In ancient times, the Huanghuaihai region was flat. At that time, in order to avoid floods, people would choose higher ground to live in. After a long time, these places have become tribal settlements and the most populous places. So gradually formed a very distinctive regional culture.
Later, the "autumn" culture developed slowly, and more and more places were named after "autumn", such as Houshan, Yinshan and Chushan.
According to relevant historical records, in Shang Dynasty, Chuqiu was the ancestral home of Chu people. During the alternation of Xia and Shang dynasties, the clan chose to move south, but still chose Chuqiu as the ancestral hall.
In the later historical changes, many place names with hilly characters slowly disappeared. But some of them have been used, and these have become cultural history, such as Shangqiu and Renqiu, which we are all familiar with.
It has always been said that China culture is profound, because many things have historical backgrounds. Even if it is only a small named place, it has gathered the wisdom and hard work of many people. After a long period of historical washing, it finally precipitated into a certain culture.
