Magellan Handheld GPS2000 Receiver Chinese User Manual
GPS2000 Chinese User Manual
Fixed point: GPS2000 receives satellite signals and calculates a coordinate value to describe where you are on the earth. On the only position, this is called a fixed point obtained. The calculated coordinates are this fixed point. Fixed points can be seen on the "POSITION" screen.
Landmark: (abbreviated as LMK) fixed points can be named and saved. In practical applications, they may also be called waypoints in many cases.
Go: You can press the "GOTO" key to select a destination landmark, and GPS2000 will guide you to the destination from your current location and obtain the bearing and distance information.
Route: A route is somewhat different from "to" in that it contains a starting and ending landmark, and may include other landmarks along the way. Routes can go from one landmark to another, or up to 29 landmarks.
Road segment: A road segment is the distance between two landmarks in the route. For example, there are three road segments from A to B and then to C and then to D in sequence.
Altitude: GPS2000 can calculate your altitude.
HDG: GPS2000 is used to define the direction in which the receiver moves on the earth's surface.
BRG: The bearing is calculated clockwise with north as 0 degrees. The bearing indicates which direction you need to go to reach the target.
GPS2000 can be used continuously for up to 17 hours using 4 AA alkaline batteries. You can feel resistance when installing the battery, and you can find a seal on the battery cover.
Initialization
In order to continuously calculate your position, GPS2000 must be able to track at least 3 satellite signals among the 24 GPS satellites orbiting the earth. Because it can only observe satellites above the horizon, it must know the location and time of the observation site. The memory of GPS2000 contains the corresponding relationship between the satellite's ephemeris and geographical location. In order to use this ephemeris, GPS2000 needs to know its approximate position, with an error not exceeding 300 miles, as well as the current date and time. These data are cleared before the GPS2000 leaves the factory. To initialize the GPS2000, it can calculate the position of the fixed point within three minutes. You can also not initialize the coordinates. At this time, GPS2000 will search all satellites sequentially and calculate the fixed point position when receiving four satellite signals (this will take more than 15 minutes).
Please perform initialization if the following occurs:
The memory is cleared.
Moved more than 300 miles while powered off.
Initialization steps:
Press and hold the ON/OFF button for more than two seconds to turn on the computer, press "MNU" to select "SETUP" from the main menu, press "ENT" twice, and find For the coordinates of the city closest to you and no more than 300 miles away, use the up, down, left and right arrows to enter the coordinate value and time value. If the receiver can monitor the open sky well when entering, it may not prompt for time and date.
Now that you have initialized GPS2000 and entered the approximate location, GPS2000 already knows the relevant GPS satellite information.
Go outside to an open area.
Main screen:
POSITION
On the POSITION screen, you will first see SEARCHING, and then it will be replaced by the status bar. When the three cells of this status bar are filled means that it has received a complete satellite signal. After this status bar disappears, you will get the coordinates of your first fixed point. If the SEARCHING status is still there after 3 minutes, please check the following three items:
1. Is the sky obscured?
2. Check whether there are any errors in the longitude and latitude. Pay attention to the difference between east longitude, north latitude and west longitude and south latitude.
3. Check that the time settings are correct, especially morning and afternoon.
If that doesn’t work, initialize again.
After getting the fixed point coordinates, you can save the current fixed point for later use.
In any wizard screen, press the "ENT" key three times, then use the arrow keys to name the fixed point.
After saving this fixed point, you can use it anywhere. No matter where you are, GPS2000 can bring you back.
You can also directly enter the coordinates and altitude to create a landmark. Press ENT in the POSITION screen, then select, select CREATE LMK, and then press ENT.
Go: It's very simple, press GOTO, select an existing landmark from the menu or enter the coordinates directly, and then GPS2000 will calculate the information you need to reach your destination.
Navigating with GPS2000:
It is very simple to create a route. There are four screens for navigation. Use the up and down keys or NAV to switch between these four screens. Among the four screens you can find the one that suits you best.
PLOTTER displays your route and the tracks you have traveled. Allows you to easily see how you are moving.
Power on: Press and hold ON/OFF until the startup screen is displayed.
The receiver begins searching for available satellites and displays SEARCHING displayed
Once a satellite signal is received, SEARDHING is replaced by a status bar. At this time, in addition to the predetermined longitude and latitude, the preset altitude, time and WGS84 are also displayed. Only the time and date are correct, and the latitude, longitude, and altitude are not calibrated. WGS84 represents the world geodetic coordinate system developed in 1984. The status bar indicates that complete satellite signals have been received. When more than three satellites are locked, the accurate longitude and latitude can be calculated. At this time, the "lock" will flash and then lock. When there are three satellites, only the longitude and latitude can be calculated. At this time, the display 2D, 2D disappears when the height calculation is correct. Usually after initialization is completed, and then turned on, it can be positioned in 2 to 4 minutes. POSITION may display different coordinates and time modes due to different settings. It can be changed in SETUP. Press ON/OFF and the receiver will count for 5 seconds and then turn off. If you press ON/OFF again within 5 seconds, it will turn off immediately. If you press other keys, it will not turn off. Press LIGHT to turn on the backlight, and press it again to turn it off. Turning on the light consumes more power. Press ENT on any NAV screen to pop up the menu. After selecting CONTRAST, you can use the left and right keys to adjust the contrast, and then press ENT to return to the NAV screen.
Create landmarks:
Users can create landmarks by naming them themselves or the system can automatically name them.
Press ENT in any NAV screen, select SAVE POS, and enter the landmark name. If you press ENT directly without entering a name, the system will automatically assign -LMK01, -LMK02 as the name. If you try to rename it, the system will prompt DUPLICATE LANDMARK NAME to rename it. Press CLR, return to SAVE POS and rename it. You can also enter coordinates directly to create a landmark.
Press ENT in the NAV screen, select CREATE LMK, press ENT, enter the name or directly press ENT to name it automatically, then enter the coordinates, press ENT to save when finished, press MNU to rename the landmark, select LMK LIST, Press ENT, select the name and press ENT. The landmark information will be displayed. Press ENT to pop up the menu. Select RENAME. After changing the name, press ENT to save. If the landmark is already in use, this will copy the landmark and give it a new name. . This machine can save 100 landmarks, press MNU, select LMK LIST, select a landmark and press ENT to view. Press the left and right keys to view the previous or next landmark. Press ENT to pop up the landmark menu. Select CLEAR to delete this landmark. Select YES after prompting for confirmation. If the landmark is used in the route or GOTO menu, it cannot be deleted. The route must be deleted or the GOTO target must be changed first.
Last fixed point: GPS2000 saves the last fixed point to the LFIX buffer every 10 minutes. This function is used to activate the return trajectory function.
You can rename, view, or clear LAST FIX in the LMK menu.
Activating GO TO is a single-segment route from your current location to a designated point. Press GO TO, select the target and press ENT. Select ROUTE to activate the selected route.

When moving, the triangle is at the top of the arc, otherwise the top of the arc indicates north as the reference direction. The course deviation indicator arrow below points upward, indicating that the direction is correct and the target is directly ahead. A little left or right and tilted means that you are about a quarter of a mile off course and should turn 45 degrees to the left. If the arrow points to the left or right, you should turn immediately. If you go forward again, you will miss the target. If it is downward or downward, you should turn back immediately and move forward in the direction of the arrow. If the target deviates 90 degrees from the actual heading, the target indication disappears and the direction mark still displays and points to the target.
This screen displays your heading, and the arrow indicates the direction of your destination (when you set GO TO or activate ROUTE). TTG indicates the time required to reach the target at the current speed.
The fourth screen displays your heading and distance, as well as a graphic showing your direction. Press the left and right buttons to use different scales. The moving graphic can point out the direction of north based on the actual position. And shows the correct direction to reach the destination and the track that has been traveled.
