1. The three mountains refer to Huangshan, Lushan and Yandang Mountains, which are famous tourist resorts; the five mountains refer to Taishan, Huashan, Hengshan, Songshan and Hengshan.
2. Introduction
(1) Five Sacred Mountains
The Five Sacred Mountains are the most famous mountains in China. The Five Sacred Mountains are the product of the ancient worship of mountain gods, the concept of the Five Elements, and the emperor's zen. They are famous all over the world for their tall images that symbolize the Chinese nation. With the Central Plains as the center and named according to the east, west, south, north and middle directions, "the five mountains do not look at the mountains when they return". The Five Sacred Mountains are said to be the first of China's famous mountains and have both landscape and cultural significance. Each of the five mountains has its own characteristics: the majestic Taishan Mountain in the east, the dangerous Huashan Mountain in the west, the beauty of Hengshan Mountain in the south, the wonders of Hengshan Mountain in the north, and the steepness of Songshan Mountain in the middle mountain. They have long been famous around the world.
(2) Three Mountains
The legendary "Three Mountains" are the "Three God Mountains" on the sea. Because they are the places where gods live, they were particularly fascinated by the ancients. "Historical Records: The Chronicles of the First Emperor of Qin" records: "Qi people Xu Fu and others wrote a letter saying that there are three sacred mountains in the sea, named Penglai, Fangzhang, and Yingzhou." Since then, the name of the Three Gods Mountain in the Sea has often appeared in ancient novels, operas, and notes. However, it is a legend and does not exist. In order to continue the beautiful myth of three mountains and five mountains, later generations chose new three mountains among the famous mountains besides the five mountains. The widely circulated three mountains are: Huangshan Mountain in Anhui, Lushan Mountain in Jiangxi, and Yandang Mountain in Zhejiang. However, there is another theory: Huangshan Mountain in Anhui Province, Mount Lushan Mountain in Jiangxi Province, and Mount Emei Mountain in Sichuan Province. Most of the international community recognizes the first statement, because Mount Emei itself is one of the four famous Buddhist mountains, and it is generally not listed as one of the three mountains.
