1. nanzenji
It is located on the north bank of Little Yinhe in Yangbaigou, near Li Jiazhuang, Yangbai Township, southwest of Wutai County, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province. It is more than 1,2 years ago, and the temple sits north to south, covering an area of 3,78 square meters. The main buildings in the temple are the mountain gate (Guanyin Hall), the East-West Annex Hall (Bodhisattva Hall and Longwang Hall) and the main hall, which form a four-floor-style building, and it is the earliest existing wooden building in National key cultural relics protection units. The main hall is the oldest existing wooden structure building in the Tang Dynasty in China. The temple has exquisite sculptures in the Tang Dynasty, which is a treasure of sculpture art in the Tang Dynasty and has important historical status and artistic value.
2. Bukkoji
It belongs to the national key cultural relics protection unit and is located in Foguang New Village, Wutai County, Shanxi Province, 3 kilometers away from the county seat. Therefore, the temple has a long history and the Buddhist cultural relics in the temple are precious, so it is called "the Buddha's Light in Asia". The main hall in the temple is the East Hall, which was built in the 11th year of the Tang Dynasty, that is, in 857 AD. In terms of construction time, it is second only to the main hall of nanzenji in Wutai County, which was built in the third year of Tang Jianzhong (AD 782), and ranks second among the existing wooden buildings in China. 3. Xiantong Temple
This is the largest temple in Wutai Mountain, and now it covers an area of about 12 mu, with more than 4 buildings of all kinds, most of which were built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The layout of the halls and wings is neat, the central axis is clear, and the halls are symmetrical. The scale is huge. The surrounding mountains are undulating, the temples in the temple are towering, and pines and cypresses are inserted in it, which is full of Buddhist flavor.
Xiantong Temple is located in the north of Dabai Pagoda in the central area of Wutai Mountain, at the foot of Bodhisattva Peak. It is the oldest temple in the Buddhist holy land of Wutai Mountain. Because the peak where the temple is located is very similar to the Lingjiu Mountain as the Buddha said, it is named Lingjiu Temple.
4. Guangji Temple
It is commonly known as West Temple, located in West Street in Wutai County, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province. Founded in the Zhengzheng period, it was partially repaired in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The gate of the temple is close to the main street. In the courtyard, Guanyin is served in the east and west halls, and two Bodhisattvas are hidden in the ground. In the middle is the Mituo Hall, and finally there are five rows of Ursa Hall. The Hall of the Great Hero and the statues in it are still well preserved. The hall is a five-bay hanging mountain style, with only two gold pillars in it, and the space area is extremely wide. There are statues of Buddha, Bodhisattva, Dizi and King Kong in the temple, with Lin, lion and elephant on both sides, all of which are excellent works of the Yuan Dynasty. The octagonal stone building in the Tang Dynasty in front of the temple is about 4 meters high. The stone lion is carved on the seat, the Buddha statue is carved on the building body, and the top is covered with a treasure cover. The knife method is simple and the shape is simple.
5. Yanshan Temple
It belongs to the national key cultural relics protection unit, formerly known as Lingyan Temple, and is located in Tianyan Village, the northern foot of Wutai Mountain in Yukou, south of fan shi. Founded in the third year of Jin Zhenglong (1158), the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties have been repaired repeatedly.
Yanshan Temple faces south and has an irregular rectangular plane. The main hall in the temple has been destroyed, and the existing buildings mainly include three south halls, three east and west halls, four other halls, three meditation rooms, one hanging flower gate and one bell tower that doubles as a mountain gate. Except for the South Hall, the rest are buildings from the late Qing Dynasty to the folk years. The pines and pines in the temple are gloomy, and the ancient halls are majestic and quiet, as if they were set in the bright pearl of Shan Ye.
There are 95 temples with relatively complete buildings in Wutai Mountain, including 6 national key cultural relics protection units: nanzenji, Bukkoji, Xiantong Temple, Guangji Temple, Yanshan Temple (fan shi) and Hongfu Temple (Dingxiang County); There are 15 provincial key cultural relics protection units: Tayuan Temple, Bodhisattva Top, Yuanzhao Temple, Luozi Temple, Shuxiang Temple, Bishan Temple, Nanshan Temple, Longquan Temple, Jinge Temple, Sonshoji Temple, Yanqing Temple, Princess Temple (fan shi), Sansheng Temple (fan shi), Huiji Temple (Yuanping City) and Shifotang Temple (Fuping County, Hebei Province) The rest are key cultural relics protection units at the county level. From the perspective of places of religious activities, there are 11 national key temples: Xiantong Temple, Tayuan Temple, Bodhisattva Top, Luobian Temple, Idyllic Temple, Bishan Temple, Jinge Temple, Guangzong Temple, Guangren Temple, Dailuoding Temple and Guanyin Cave.
