First of all, African rosewood
The wood name of African rosewood is Yahua pear, commonly known as safflower pear and African rosewood, which belongs to Pterocarya of Butterfly Family and is produced in Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Angola and other countries. The difference between heartwood and sapwood is obvious. The new section of heartwood is blood red, but it turns reddish brown to purplish red with crimson stripes after a long time. Wood chips have fluorescence reaction when immersed in water, and the air-dried density is about 0.72g/cm3.
African rosewood and rosewood are similar in wood structure and pattern, and their names are similar; However, the color of African rosewood is red, the new section of heartwood is bright red, the fragrance is weak or absent, the density is small, the tube hole is large, and the longitudinal section is thick and curved.
Second, the color-changing rosewood
The wood name of color-changing rosewood is Yahua pear, which belongs to the genus Dalbergia of Butterfly Family and is produced in Congo, Tanzania and other countries. The new section of heartwood is pale yellow, pink after long-term exposure in the atmosphere, and sapwood is nearly white. Wood chips have fluorescence reaction when immersed in water, and the air-dried density is 0.4-0.5g per cubic centimeter.
The main differences between color-changing rosewood and rosewood are: color-changing rosewood is lighter, less dense, lighter in fragrance and color, and the new section of heartwood is pale yellow, which turns pink after a long time.
Third, Angola rosewood
The name of Angola rosewood wood is Yahua pear, commonly known as Khmer rosewood (this tree is produced in Africa, and the wood is very similar to Huali pear. Some merchants imported this kind of wood as rosewood and named it Khmer rosewood, which misled consumers into thinking that it was made in Southeast Asia. Pteroceltis of Papilionaceae is produced in Tanzania, Mozambique, Angola, Zimbabwe and other countries. The color of heartwood varies greatly, from yellowish brown to brick red, often with dark stripes. Wood chips have fluorescence reaction when immersed in water, and the air-dried density is 0.5 1-0.86g per cubic centimeter.
The main difference between Angola rosewood and rosewood is that most Angola rosewood has low density, light or no fragrance, and two or three rows of rays.
Fourth, the sheath seed Guyi Sumu
At present, it is similar to rosewood, especially the scabbard seed Guyi Sumu, which often appears as rosewood. Guyi tree, commonly known as Hua Xiaobai, belongs to Guyi tree of Uraceae, and is produced in tropical Africa. The difference between heartwood and sapwood is obvious. The heartwood is yellow-brown to reddish-brown, and the air-dried density is about 0.9 grams per cubic centimeter.
The color, pattern and density of Guyi Sumu with sheath seeds are similar to rosewood, but Guyi Sumu with sheath seeds has no fragrance of rosewood, and its structure is quite different. Wood rays do not overlap, single rays are few, and sawdust has no fluorescence reaction when soaked in water.
Five, wood pod beans
Cajanus cajan, commonly known as "Golden Car Pear", "Thailand safflower pear" and "Myanmar Pear", belongs to Cajanus cajan of Mimosaceae, and is produced in Myanmar, India, Cambodia, Thailand and other countries. The heartwood is reddish brown with dark stripes and the sapwood is light pink. The catheter is filled with dark colloid, which often overflows the surface, forming a sticky or waxy texture, and some of it contains white deposits. The air-dried density is 0.83- 1.23g per cubic centimeter, which is often greater than that per cubic centimeter1g.
The color, density and texture of wood are similar to rosewood, but the axial parenchyma of pea is wing-like, wing-like, annular and tubular, without bands. Wood rays do not overlap, and the rays are wide and long, and the width is mostly 2-3 squares. The catheter is filled with dark colloid, which often overflows the surface to produce a sticky or waxy texture.
Six, Myanmar eggplant
Burdock, commonly known as pineapple, belongs to Burdock and is produced in Myanmar, Thailand, Southeast Asia and other countries. There are obvious differences between heartwood, which is brown to dark reddish brown, usually with dark and light stripes. The air-drying density is 0.8-0.83g/cm3. In Southeast Asia, it is called Sequoia.
Color, pattern, density, etc. Burmese eggplant is similar to rosewood, but Burmese eggplant has no fragrance of rosewood, and sawdust has no fluorescence reaction when soaked in water. The axial parenchyma is wing-like, wing-like and wheel-bound, and there is no banded axial parenchyma. Wood rays do not overlap, and the width is mostly 2-3 squares.
