Miscellaneous remarks

I saw a book called "The Road to Heaven: The Biography of Li Bai" in the circle of friends. There is a paragraph in it that is open to discussion, and I would like to clarify it with everyone.

The book says that Li Bai’s daughter is named Pingyang, and explains that Pingyang is a royal name, because the sister of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty was named Pingyang, and the daughter of Emperor Gaozu of the Tang Dynasty was also named Princess Pingyang. This quote is from a book about Li Bai.

In fact, Princess Pingyang of the Han Dynasty was the elder sister, not the younger sister, of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty. Moreover, Pingyang is not a name at all, but a city. Princess Pingyang's first husband, Cao Shou, attacked the Marquis of Pingyang. Princess Pingyang is talking about the princess whose fiefdom is in Pingyang.

In China's thousands of years of history, almost every city, every pavilion, township, county, prefecture, and state has been given to the royal family's relatives and meritorious officials as food fiefs. Therefore, naming a child after a place is not considered royal.

Li Bai’s daughter was named Pingyang and his son was named Boqin. Pingyang is the place name of the Lu State in Shandong, and Boqin was the first king of the Lu State. This is the true meaning of Li Bai's naming of his children.

I can’t help but think of the TV series in which the young Wu Zetian was called “Zetian, Zetian” by her family. There is also a drama or novel in which Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty is clearly still alive, and then the courtiers discuss "What Emperor Wu did is really contrary to the legacy of the late emperor."

The purpose of writing this article is to call on everyone to pay attention to the true face of history and not to make assumptions.
