The cradle of Changdian Peking Opera

When we walk in the hutong of Liulichang, we will feel that the former residence of famous Peking Opera artists seems to be telling us the past of Liyuan. Peking Opera is vividly displayed here from its formation to development, which can be described as the "cradle of Peking Opera" worth visiting.

The former residence of Yu Sansheng and his son Yu Ziyun is located at No.61Stone Hutong. Yu Sansheng, a famous old student of Chinese opera, performed in Huiban after he entered Beijing, which made great contributions to the formation of Beijing Opera. Together with Zhang Erkui, he is called "the Three Elders". No.39 Stone Hutong nearby is Zhang Erkui's former residence. Not far away, No.36 Baishun Hutong is the former residence of Cheng Changgeng, the founder of Beijing Opera. He integrated Kunqu Opera and Yi Opera into Huangpi, paving the way for the formation of Beijing Opera. Tan Xinpei was the first person who was most influenced by Cheng Changgeng and could inherit his mantle. His former residence is at Dawailangying 1. 1905 At the invitation of Fengtai Studio, the mime film Dingjun Mountain was filmed, which was the first film shot by China and the first drama film. Wang Changlin, known as "Elder Clown", once lived at No.82, Northeast Park, Liulichang. No.55 Baishun Hutong used to live in Chen Delin, and is known as "Old Master Q". No.39 Broom Lane is the former residence of Yang Xiaolou, the "martial arts master". Wang Yaoqing's former residence is at No.20 Peiying Hutong. Yu Sansheng's grandson Yu Shuyan lives at Chunshu Road 15. Unfortunately, his former residence and Shang Xiaoyun's former residence were demolished a few years ago. No. 10 1 Cycas Xie Jie is the birthplace of Master Mei Lanfang. There is a toilet at the door, which is unsightly. It is as good as it is, but it is easy to find. Shang Xiaoyun's former residence is at Chunshuxiaertiao 1, and Xun Huisheng's former residence is at Shanxi Street 13. Qian's former residence is at No.23 Shaanxi Street, and he once lived in No.7 Xicaochang1Street No.21Street and No.9 Dongheyan Xuanwu Gate in Yong Guang. Speaking of Peking Opera, we can't forget Niu Zihou, Shen Jia, Ye Chunshan, Xiao Changhua, Su Yuqing, Song Qishan and Tang Zong Cheng. The class has trained students in seven subjects: happiness, association, wealth, prosperity, world, yuan and rhyme. Almost all the best Peking Opera artists in the 20th century came from this class. Ye Chunshan's former residence is located in Baihai Hutong 15 and 17. Xiao Changhua's former residence is at No.88 Xicaochang Hutong. 1904 On the first day of the first month, the "Xiliansheng" training course run by Ye Chunshan was established in Southwest Park. 1906 moved to the former iron works and changed its name to "Xiliansheng". After the Revolution of 1911, Niu went bankrupt and the training course was transferred to Shenyang, the outer hall of Andingmen, Beijing. 19 12 was renamed as "Fulian City", and 192 1 was moved to the east and south of Hufang Bridge. Classes have been held in Liulichang, and performances have also been held in Guanghe Building, Guangde Building and New World Stage at the west exit of Xiangchang Road in Dashilan.

During the more than 200 years from Huiban's arrival in Beijing to the formation and development of Beijing Opera, he never left Qianmen, Liulichang and Toona sinensis, and always took Liulichang as the center. Therefore, if you want to know about Beijing Opera, you must go to Liulichang instead of visiting the former residence of Beijing Opera artists.

This is the charm of the factory. If we can't talk for days and nights, if we can't go for ten or eight days, there will always be loopholes and some unknowns to explore. Books are history on paper, and real history can only be felt by field visits.
