How powerful is Liu Xiu in official history?

As the emperor of ZTE, Wang Fuzhi spoke highly of Liu Xiu, saying that he was less than three generations old and could be crowned among hundreds of kings. There are many official and unofficial histories, legends and myths about him. In order to further understand this historical figure, today Let me tell you about the magic of Liu Xiu.

First, the name is strange. In the year when Emperor Ai of the Han Dynasty ascended the throne, there was a great Confucian scholar named Liu Xin in the Western Han Dynasty. Perhaps because of taboos, he changed his name to Liu Xiu. In the twelfth lunar month of that year, Liu Qin was the third county magistrate in Jiyang, which is now Lankao. The son was born just in time for the harvest. One crop grew nine ears, so his father named him Xiu, with the courtesy name Uncle Wen. Counting from Liu Bang, his generation is already the ninth generation. Although they have aristocratic blood, they have basically become ordinary people at the grassroots level. When Liu Xiu grew up, he was seven feet three inches tall. According to the Eastern Han Dynasty, one foot was equivalent to 23.4 centimeters, which is about 1.7 meters, which is equivalent to today's medium stature. He had a high nose, a square mouth, a wide forehead, and beautiful hair and beard. It should be said that he looked pretty good, so later generations said he had the "appearance of an emperor."

The second is the wonder of prophecy. After Wang Mang usurped the throne, his cousin Wang She's family had a Taoist priest named Ximen Junhui. Ximen Junhui liked astronomical predictions and other things. He told Wang She that the stars showed. The Liu family will be revived, and the emperor will be called Liu Xiu. So, he and Liu Xiu, the national counselor at the time, conspired to kill Wang Mang. When the incident was revealed, Wang Mang sent someone to arrest him and intend to kill him. When he was finally taken to the execution ground, he even laughed and said, Liu Xiu is indeed your emperor. Liu Xiu once went to his brother-in-law Deng Chen's house to play. Everyone discussed this matter and said that this Liu Xiu should be Liu Xin, the Grand Master of the country. Liu Xiu said, "How do you know it's not me?" Everyone laughed. Deng After Chen heard this, he was secretly happy for Liu Xiu. After the establishment of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Deng Chen said to Liu Xiu, I finally got this done for you. Liu Xiu laughed when he heard this.

The third is the strange character. Generally speaking, Liu Xiu is kind, cautious, tolerant, and strategic. When he was a child, Liu Xiu liked to grow crops. Because of this, his elder brothers laughed at him for being useless, but he was still not angry or annoyed, as always. Later, during the war, everyone said that he was "cowardly against a small enemy, but brave against a large enemy." When his brother was killed by Liu Xuan, he pretended to be calm and went home to grieve secretly. His tears wet the pillow at night and he remained silent. Later, he looked for opportunities and eliminated the murderer who framed his brother. When he returned home in fine clothes, the aunts took advantage of their drunkenness and laughed and said, "Uncle Wen was cautious and honest when he was young, and would not mince words in his dealings with others. He was straightforward and gentle. Unexpectedly, he became the emperor today." Liu Xiu said with a smile, "I am the same way." Judo governs the world. His old classmate Yan Guang did not want to become an official in the court, but he did not force it. He drank and chatted with each other, leaving behind jokes about sleeping on the same bed with his classmates and being a guest star against the emperor's star.

The fourth is the wonder of experience. Liu Xiu raised his army at the age of 28, fought in Kunyang, patrolled Hebei, pacified the south of the Yangtze River, and settled in Bashu. He once rode an ox into battle, and was eventually assisted by 28 generals. After 15 years, he unified the world. During the Battle of Kunyang, faced with the great disparity between the enemy and ourselves, Liu Xiu was not afraid of danger and led 13 cavalry out of the city to mobilize reinforcements. Finally, 17,000 troops joined forces from inside and outside to defeat Wang Yi's 420,000 army. Just in time for the bad weather, Wang Yi's 42 Ten thousand troops were killed and drowned in the Chi River, and the water stopped flowing. When he first arrived in Hebei, Wang Lang offered rewards for his capture. He asked Wang Ba to recruit soldiers, but he didn't recruit any soldiers. When he arrived at Wuluo Pavilion in Raoyang, he had no food, so Feng Yi got some bean porridge to satisfy his hunger. In the case of heavy rain, he could only eat wheat rice and wild vegetables, and it was extremely difficult to go into Raoyang City to find food. If the gatekeeper hadn't let him go, he would probably have finished the game. When crossing the Hutuo River, Wang Ba was asked to see if the river was frozen. As a result, Wang Ba saw that there was no ice, but the situation was urgent and he had to lie and say that it was frozen. When he arrived, the river was frozen, so he succeeded. Before they could cross the river, the ice melted again. It can only be said that it was auspicious and the story of Wang Mang chasing Liu Xiu away should have originated from this.

The fifth is the wonder of marriage. When Liu Xiu was a boy, he had a dream: to become an official and to be a wife is to be Yin Lihua. Later generations of heroes Zhu Wen and Wu Sangui also sighed about Lihua. After the Battle of Kunyang, Liu Xiu married Yin Lihua, but sometimes his life experiences were not controlled by him. Faced with an uncertain future, he sent Yin Lihua back to his hometown in Nanyang and went north alone. Later, he married Guo Shengtong for political needs in Hebei. Later, Liu Xiu did not forget his old love and found Yin Lihua. Until 17 years after he ascended the throne, he named her the queen, and his son Liu Yang was the prince, who was the later Emperor Ming of the Han Dynasty.

In general, Liu Xiu was the emperor for 33 years, and Guo was deposed in the 17th year of Jianwu. Guo and Yin gave birth to 5 sons and 1 daughter respectively, and their endings were good.
