Kawasaki Steamboat, Merchant Marine Mitsui and Japan Post jointly announced that they will jointly establish a new container shipping company. The official name of the new company is "Ocean Network Express" (referred to as "I"), and the official operation date is 20 1 April/81day. The first task of the new shipping company is to integrate the global container shipping business of the three companies, excluding Japan. This plan was announced in the Notice of Container Transportation Business Integration Agreement jointly issued by three shipping companies on 20 16 10 last year.
Japan's three major shipping companies, Kawasaki Steamboat (K-line), Merchant Marine Mitsui (MOL) and Japan Mail Ship (NYK), announced the merger of container business on 1 October 3 1 July 201July 7, and planned to set up a joint venture company on July12065438.

The global liner capacity is expected to rank sixth, accounting for about 7% of the global market share, and it is mainly responsible for container transportation business including terminal operations outside Japan.
The above tripartite agreement was signed on March 24, 20 17, and the three parties will set up an entity operation company next year to share relevant information. If there is no vote on May 2, or no supplementary materials are needed, the tripartite agreement will take effect on May 8.
