How old is the largest ginkgo tree in Tanzhe Temple?

Ginkgo tree was planted in Zhenguan period of Tang Dynasty with a history of 1400 years.

Because these trees were planted before Tanzhe Temple became famous. It was not famous at that time, so there is no exact time record. Tanzhe Temple is only a rough construction age.

Tanzhe Temple is the oldest temple in Beijing, 800 years earlier than Beijing. Tanzhe Temple was founded in the Western Jin Dynasty (265-3 16) and is called Kafka Temple. It has a history of more than 1700 years, so there is a saying that "Tanzhe Temple came first, then Beijing City". Zheng Qiwu's Reading Tanzhe Temple said: Originally, the "pool" refers to the water source formed by a spring on the mountain-Longtan, and "Zhezhe" is a Zheshu tree growing around the temple.

The two ginkgo trees in the center of the courtyard of Tanzhe Temple are called "Imperial Tree" and "Wang Peishu" respectively, but this name was named by Emperor Qianlong, who specializes in sightseeing. These two trees are thousands of years old, tall and majestic, with extraordinary momentum, more than 30 meters high. Unfortunately, these two trees are male and cannot bear fruit. There used to be a Buddhist temple in the Ming Dynasty between the two trees, but it was demolished in order to make the branches and leaves of Ginkgo biloba stretch better. Imagine, a thousand years later, maybe two trees can fly hand in hand!
