The sword is one of the short weapons in martial arts and is known as the "King of Hundred Blades". Common techniques include stabbing, picking, chopping, wiping, pulling, teasing, breaking, and point. The characteristics of swordsmanship are lightness, agility, freedom, elegance, and flexibility.
It has been more than 3,000 years since the sword was created. People have continuously summarized research and created the art of sword handling. During the Spring and Autumn Period, "Yue Nu Sword" was a summary of the theory elaborated on the swordsmanship at that time. There were 38 chapters of "Swordsmanship" written in the Han Dynasty. After the Three Kingdoms, swords withdrew from actual combat and gradually evolved from a martial arts weapon to a tool for people to strengthen their bodies. Swordsmanship also gradually formed many sects, each with its own strengths and brilliance, including Tai Chi. Sword, Wudang Sword, Drunken Sword... each has its own place in our martial arts treasure house today, and it is still one of the important events of national sports.
The legend of Gan Jiang and Mo Xie’s sword-making. During the Spring and Autumn Period between Wu and Yue, the Kingdom of Wu had no suitable weapons. It happened that the Kingdom of Yue had acquired three swords, which were deeply loved by King Helu of Wu, so he sent people to order Wu. The country's swordsmith master Qianjiang forged swords. Qianjiang gathered iron essence from the five famous mountains, and collected gold and silver from all over the world. Then choose the time of day, take advantage of the land, and wait for the time when the yin and yang are harmonious and the sun and the moon shine together, then you can open the furnace and forge the sword. Just when success was in sight, the temperature suddenly dropped, preventing the essence of gold and iron from melting. Moye then cut off his hair, cut off his fingernails and put them into the furnace, and directed 300 boys and girls to work together to pack the coal and blow up the bellows. Finally the essence of gold and iron melted, and the sword was forged. One sword had tortoise shell patterns on its body, so they called it the Yang Sword and named it Ganjiang; the other sword had Manli patterns on its body, so they called it the Yin Sword and named it Moye. General Qian hid the Yang Sword and presented only the Yin Sword to the King of Wu.
