Take a dollar coin as an example: the letter is the heart and the flower is the back. Three backs are Lao Yang, three hearts are Lao Yin, two backs are Shaoyin, and one back is Shaoyang. Just memorize it. Did you use three copper coins for divination? If all three coins are heads, that is Lao Yang, and Lao Yang is actually Yin (the extremes of things must be reversed); conversely, if three coins are all tails, that is Lao Yin, and Lao Yin is actually Yang. The line with Lao Yang or Lao Yin is the moving line. If there is Lao Yin and Lao Yang at the same time, then Lao Yang is the moving line (Yang is active, Yin is quiet); if both are Lao Yin, then it is Lao in the outer hexagram. Yin is the moving Yao (active outside, quiet inside).
