Qin'an is a county in Tianshui City, Gansu Province.
Qin'an County is located in the southeast of Gansu Province, north of Tianshui City, downstream of the Hulu River, a tributary of the Wei River. Qin'an County is located in the inland of the Loess Plateau. Its landform features reflect the typical loess beams, ravines and river valleys. The county is about 65 kilometers long from east to west and 50 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total area of ??1,601 square kilometers.
Characteristics of Qin'an County
Qin'an was known as Chengji in ancient times and was recorded as "Xiliwa Township" in history. Neolithic cultural sites such as Yangshao, Majiayao and Qijia Culture have been discovered 72, including 3 national key cultural relics protection units, namely Dadiwan, Xingguo Temple, and Dacheng Hall of Confucian Temple, 4 provincial-level cultural relics protection units, and 65 county-level cultural relics protection units.
At that time, the Song and Jin Dynasties were in conflict and war was going on for a long time. In order to seek peace, the rulers added the word "an" to the city and named it Qin'an. Qin'an County belongs to the Liangmao gully area in the west of the Longzhong Loess Plateau. It has many mountains and few rivers, undulating Liangmao and crisscrossing ravines. It is one of the eighteen arid counties in Gansu Province.
