Anecdote and allusion:

Tomb was dug

Li Lianying's tomb was destroyed as early as 1966, and only the rubbings of the epitaph remained. Li Lianying died in Xuantong for three years at the age of 63. At this time, the Qing dynasty, which lasted for more than 2 years, was already tottering, and its demise was only a matter of days.

During the Cultural Revolution, Li Lianying's grave was excavated, and a teacher was assigned to clean it. As a result, when he opened the coffin, he found that there was only a head and a long braid in his coffin, and the body disappeared for no reason, and the specific whereabouts could not be verified.

However, Li Lianying's inscription describes that his body is complete, and it is most likely that he was beheaded after his death because he offended too many people during his lifetime. Tragically speaking, the archives of Li Lianying's burial with a head and no body records are kept in the archives of the Qing court today.
