Covering an area of 3.5 square kilometers, with a building area of 200,000 square meters and more than 0/50 scenic spots, it is known as the "Garden of Ten Thousand Gardens". 1860, Yuanmingyuan was burned in the battle of the British and French allied forces. After war and plunder, only ruins remain. After the China Municipal Government established the Yuanmingyuan Management Office, it began to protect and utilize it. 1979 was listed as a cultural relic protection unit. 1988, Yuanmingyuan site was announced by China people and the State Council as one of the third batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park is located in the central and eastern part of Yuanmingyuan Ruins. On July 29th, 2008, Yuanmingyuan Administration announced the opening of Kyushu Scenic Area. So far, Yuanmingyuan has opened 4/5 of the whole park.
Zhengjue Temple is the only building group that survived two disasters (1860 and 1900). 2002 to 20 1 1 reconstruction and protection. The temple faces south, and the main buildings are the mountain gate, the Heavenly King Hall, the Three Temples, the Manjusri Pavilion and the uppermost building. The ruins of Jiuzhou Scenic Spot in Yuanmingyuan were cleared in 2009 and opened for visit.
