The origin of Zhoukou's name

Zhoukou was the hometown of Fuxi, and the Zhou Dynasty belonged to the fief of Chen State, which later became the capital of Chu State. After the establishment of the Han Dynasty, Abatti Giresse Concorde often served as the rich side of the prince's fief. In ancient Zhoukou, the transportation was convenient, the land was fertile, and there were many merchants from south to north.

During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, with the opening and prosperity of waterway transportation in Sha Ying, Zhoukou developed into an inland river shipping center between the north and south of the Yangtze River, and was one of the four major commercial centers in Henan at that time.

Zhoukou has a dense river network. Although it is located in the north, its water transportation is developed and it is known as "Little Wuhan". In the Ming Dynasty, the original commercial town extended from the north bank of Hebei to the south bank, and a family named Zhou opened the first ferry on the south bank at that time, which was called "Zhoujiakou", and the later "Zhoujiakou" was named after it.

During the Qing Dynasty, the population increased sharply, and Zhoujiakou gathered from a ferry to a town. During the Qianlong period, there were 16 ferries in Zhoujiakou town, with tens of thousands of people in the town. The commercial development of water transportation is very prosperous, and Zhoujiakou has become the new core area of Huaiyang land. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, in the name of Zhoujiakou Town, Zhoukou was named after the word "home", and later Zhoukou area and Zhoukou city were named after it.
