Bingdundun English

Bing Dwen Dwen’s English name is Bing Dwen Dwen.

Bing Dwen Dwen (English: Bing Dwen Dwen) is the mascot of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. It combines the image of a panda with an ice crystal shell rich in super energy. The shape of the head shell is taken from an ice and snow sports helmet, decorated with a colorful halo, and the overall image resembles an astronaut.

Bingdundun means creating extraordinary and exploring the future, embodying the pursuit of excellence, leading the times, and facing the infinite possibilities of the future. "Ice" symbolizes purity and strength, which are characteristics of the Winter Olympics. "Dundun" means honest, stocky and cute, which fits the overall image of the panda and symbolizes the strong body, perseverance and inspiring Olympic spirit of the Winter Olympics athletes.

Establishment process:

On August 8, 2018, the launching ceremony for the global collection of mascots for the Beijing Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics was held; on October 20, the global collection of mascots The design plan entered the submission stage. The collection activity lasted for 84 days, and 5,816 design plans were received.

On April 12, 2019, the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee invited deputies to the National People's Congress, Beijing Municipality, and Hebei Provincial People's Congress, members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the All-China Women's Federation, and the China Disabled Persons' Federation Representatives from all walks of life, including athletes, primary and secondary school students, and related enterprises, reviewed the design plan.

In August 2019, the design team of "Bingdundun" went to the Wolong Giant Panda Nature Reserve in Sichuan to inspect the panda's shape and posture on the spot and improve the design details. The Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee reported the mascot candidate plan to the Beijing Winter Olympics Leading Group and determined the final plan.

On the evening of September 17, 2019, Bing Dwen Dwen was officially released to the public.
