What does the little turtle eat?

There are many kinds of food for turtles, including rice, wheat, peas, small fish, shrimp, insects and snails, among which the favorite food is small fish, snails, corn and rice.

Precautions for raising turtles:

1, turtle water

To use tap water that has been dried for more than 2 days (for chlorine removal), it is best to prepare 2 plastic buckets to dry, which can meet the needs of water change. It is recommended to change the water in parts every day. It is not necessary to change the water in the whole cylinder unless the water and the periphery of the cylinder are dirty. When partially changing water, use a plastic small tube to suck out the dirty water at the bottom by siphon principle, and then add fresh water with the same capacity (that is, tap water that has been dried for 2 days) into the tank.

In this way, the turtle that changes water will not have white eye disease or rotten nails. Of course, if you want to save energy, you can change the water in the whole tank once a day or a few days, but there is no guarantee that the tortoise will grow up healthily.

2. turtle food

Water turtles generally feed on pork, beef, shrimp, small fish and livers of poultry and fish. These foods should be chopped or shredded. Of course, fish feed or turtle feed can also be fed, but it is recommended not to feed as much as possible.

When cooking, you only need to leave a little food for the turtle, and you don't need to buy turtle food specially. It should be noted that when feeding shrimp and fish, the shrimp head and fishbone should be removed to prevent the shrimp bone and fishbone from piercing the turtle's throat. Frozen food should be thawed and can only be fed to turtles when the temperature is consistent with the water temperature.

In summer, the temperature is high, and the turtle has a fast metabolism, so it can be fed once a day, but it is generally recommended to feed it every other day, because the turtle does not need to be fed too often and is an animal with a slow metabolism. Of course, if you are busy, it is no problem to feed them once every few days. They are very hungry animals. Even if they travel, as long as they ensure adequate water supply, they will not eat for half a month. It's just a little unfair to your precious turtle.

10 Autumn comes, and turtles don't eat much. They only eat once every few days until they hibernate in winter and stop eating. Generally speaking, the turtle's food intake is the size of its head and neck, but turtles can eat well. Because it may take them several days to find food in the wild, they can eat a lot at a time in case they don't need food in the future, so turtles eat a lot. I advise you not to give in. Eating too much is bad for your health and will affect your life span.

3. Breeding environment of turtles

Generally, the water depth of turtle breeding is slightly higher than that of turtle back, so it is not necessary to be too deep (of course, some turtle friends need or like high water level when using filters). It is best to provide a stone above the water surface for turtles to climb up and dry their backs; The tortoise needs sunshine. If you keep it indoors, you should bask in the sun for more than ten minutes every day.

It is recommended to place it in the southeast where sunshine can be obtained 1-2 hours (without long-term direct sunlight), and provide shading conditions (a small piece of wood can be placed on the top of the tank for partial shading) to avoid heatstroke.

4. About hibernation

Every year, when the temperature drops below 10-113℃ in10, turtles start to hibernate until the temperature rises to 18℃ in February and March. Hibernating turtles can't eat or move, but sleep.

The easiest way to hibernate is to move the tortoise to a dark and quiet place indoors, hibernate in shallow water (the water has just passed through the shell) and change the water once a month. Try not to disturb the tortoise except changing the water. Be careful that the temperature should not be lower than 6 degrees, otherwise it will endanger the life of the tortoise.
