What are the names of typhoons?

There are 140 typhoon names.

They are: Sea Anemone, Wukong, Jade Rabbit, White Deer, Wind God, Poseidon, Cuckoo, Lightning Mother, Seahorse, Begonia, Kai Tak, Shanshan, Wanyi, Lingling, Phoenix, White Dolphin, Caiyun , Lion Rock, Saddle, Banyan Tree, Sanba, Bebigia, Butterfly, Pipa, Wasp, Lotus, Fireworks, Agate, Plum Blossom, Coral, etc.

People began to name typhoons in the early 20th century. It is said that the first person to name a typhoon was an Australian forecaster in the early 20th century. He named the tropical cyclone after a political figure he did not like. Therefore, weathermen can openly joke about it.

In the Northwest Pacific, official naming of typhoons after people began in 1945. At first, only women's names were used. Later, it is said that due to opposition from feminists, starting in 1979, a man's name and a man's name were used. Female names are used interchangeably.

It was not until the 30th meeting of the Typhoon Committee of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) held in Hong Kong, China, from November 25 to December 1, 1997 that tropical cyclones in the northwest Pacific and South China Sea adopt the Asian Style naming, and decided to use the new naming method from January 1, 2000.
