In the third year of Emperor Wude's reign in the Tang Dynasty, because the name of Yong'an County had the same name as that of Yong'an County in Fuzhou, there was a discussion about changing the name. Because Zheng Xing's "filial piety was well-known in the court", Emperor Taizong Li Shimin of the Tang Dynasty granted Yong'an County to be renamed Xiaoyi County, and the name "Xiaoyi" city came from this.
