The Historical Origin of Ma Huan Town

The rippling green water fields in Ma Huan Town bear historical origins, and the rolling Qishan Xiufeng contains folk customs and talents, which outlines a beautiful ecological picture of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. It has a long history here. When Zhang Fei, commander-in-chief of the Shu Kingdom of the Three Kingdoms, was guarding Langzhong, he called the lost horse "calling the horse" here. "Paper-cut called Horse" refers to a kind of folk culture and art that originated from Calling Horse and spread in northern Sichuan, which conforms to the life content and spiritual pursuit of local people. According to county records, the name of this racecourse is Zhuxi. During the Three Kingdoms period, Zhang Fei, a general of Shu, guarded Langzhong and went to the ancient Hanzhong Road. I took a ride on the road, but I lost my mount because I watched the aunt in the village perform paper-cutting, and then I called the horse back in Zhuxi. Artists at that time used paper-cutting to record this historical story. Another folk artist made this story into a shadow play, which was widely circulated. The farmer cut out its portrait and posted it on the portal to ward off evil spirits and eliminate disasters, and called it "General Hu Fei". Since then, the paper-cut called Ma has been handed down from generation to generation among the people, and spread to all aspects of social life, resulting in various artistic expressions based on paper-cutting, forming its own unique artistic style represented by folk artists such as Li, Zhong, Liu and Gou.
