Ma Laichi (November 12, 1681 - September 8, 1766), the founder of the Hu Feiya School of Sufism in China and the founder of the Hua Temple.

His ancestral home is Chang'an, Shaanxi, and later moved to Hezhou, Gansu (now Linxia).

His family was originally the richest in Linxia, ??but was already facing bankruptcy when he was born, so he was named "Lai Chi" (meaning he did not enjoy the rich life).

At the age of 8, he went to Qinghai Province to study *** and teach classics, and graduated from the Classics University.

Since 1698, he has taught teachings in some places in Qinghai and Gansu.

Family background

Ma Lai Chi was born into a family of officials. His grandfather, Ma Congshan, was awarded the rank of General Jianwu in the Ming Dynasty.

His father, Ma Jiasuo, was a member of Wu Bagong. Because his family was richest in Hezhou, he was known as "Ma Shiwan".

Mala came later

After Kangxi was born in the 20th year of his reign (1681), his father's shop was destroyed by fire soon. Between joy and sorrow, he sighed to his son: "Your fate If it doesn't work well, all my property will be cremated. Why did you come so late?" Hence the name "Lai Chi".

After that, the family situation declined.

Growth experience

When he was 8 years old, he was sent to live with his relative Ma Hanchen in Milagou, Minhe County, Qinghai Province, and studied *** literature and religion at the *** temple there. Later, under the guidance of Tai Baba, the dean of Laowang Temple in Bafang, Hezhou, he completed the Jingtang University course. When he was 18 years old, Tai Baba presided over "clothing and hanging curtains" for him and became an imam.

Recommended by Tai Baba, he successively served as a school in *** monastery in Wulaxiahui, Minhe, Maying, Qinghai, Bafang, Hezhou, Gansu, Sanjiaji, Guanghe, etc.

It lasted for 30 years.

In the sixth year of the reign of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty (1728), Malachi went to Mecca to perform Hajj with Sheikh Aizuzhanbol, a *** man from Hezhou.

Travel to Guangzhou and study religious classics and *** geography, customs, dialects, etc. with Imam Elef at Huaisheng Mosque for 3 months, and then study with Ishaq and Guamba He and others from Yemen took a boat and traveled for two months to reach Aden.

He visited and studied in Yemen, Mecca, Baghdad, Damascus, Cairo and other places. During this period, he visited the Sufi School in Mecca hosted by Sheikh *** bin Ahmed Al-Agler. He studied in the Taoist Hall for three years and studied Sufism theories such as Naqshbandiya, Shazliniya, and Qadilinye.

When he returned home, the famous scholar Mullah Makhdoum gave him the name of Abu Futuh, ***, and Bin Ahmed Al-Agler gave him the book Hades. "Sha" and "Mao Lude" two scriptures, as well as worship mats, long gowns and missionary seals, etc.

At the same time, he also brought back 80 volumes of classics.

In the twelfth year of Yongzheng (1734), he returned to China by sea via Hong Kong and Guangzhou, which took more than 6 years.

Experience after returning to China

After Malachi returned to China, he preached in Xunhua, Qinghai and other places. The believers built the *** Temple in Shuerwan and asked him to set up a tent and give lectures.

Later, he was invited to serve as the dean of Buddhist monasteries in Yunnan, Henan, Shaanxi and other places, and taught Hufeiye philosophy. He was supported by Buddhists from all over the country and became one of the famous imams in the northwest at that time.

Since the 21st year of Qianlong (1756), through his preaching, some Tibetan people in the Kaligang area of ??Qinghai have also converted to Christianity and become devout believers of the eunuchs of Hua Temple. The impact is greater.
