Why is Bailuyuan called "Bailu"yuan?

The name White Deer comes from the appearance of white deer. This not only comes from a beautiful folklore, but also is recorded in historical records: "Book of the Later Han Dynasty" records: "There is Bailuyuan in the west of Xinfeng County, where King Ping of Zhou Dynasty "The White Deer came out at that time." "Shui Jing Zhu" and "Taiping Huanyu Ji" also said, "When King Ping moved eastward, a white deer swam here, hence the name." This shows the origin of the name of the White Deer Plain and the existence of the White Deer. The history of its emergence is already more than 2,700 years ago.

Legend has it that during the Western Zhou Dynasty, a fierce tribe called Quan Wu emerged in the West and posed a serious threat to the Hao Kyoto City of the Western Zhou Dynasty, which had begun to decline. After King You of Zhou was killed by Quan Wu, the newly enthroned King Ping of Zhou was in danger because there was no danger to defend Hao Jing, so he discussed with his ministers and decided to choose another place to build the capital. Not long after, King Ping led the ministers in charge of the Xingxiang Fuji and other ministers. Surrounded by a large group of guards, they waded eastward across the surging Zishui River and climbed onto a flat and vast plain. This plain is surrounded by water on three sides and Nanshan Mountain on one side. From the plain to the northwest, you can overlook the vast Weihe River Plain. It relies on Zhongnan Mountain in the southeast, making it easy to advance and retreat. The military position is extremely favorable. King Ping had followed King You to hunt in the past. The purpose of Uehara this time was to walk around the original week and decide whether to build a capital on this plain. King Zhou Ping and his men marched from the west end to the east, all the way to the east end. It was getting late at this time, so they chose a temple on the bank of a small valley with lush ancient cypresses and fragrant flowers to set up a palace and camp in groups.

At dawn the next morning, King Ping was suddenly awakened by a cry of exclamation from outside. When he went out of the temple, he saw a snow-white object surrounded by a cloud of auspicious light and auspiciousness among the high mountains in the southeast. Come! In an instant, he could see clearly that the center of this purple energy coming from the east was actually a snow-white sacred deer. Except for a pair of eyes that were like shining red agate, there was no color in his body. The white deer held a Ganoderma lucidum in its mouth, its hooves were floating in the clouds and the wind was blowing, and it suddenly arrived. This white deer was ordered by the Emperor of Heaven to come here specifically to eliminate disasters and bring good fortune. At this moment, the white deer suddenly saw the guards of the King of Zhou hunting with banners and shouting thunderously. He was startled and the Ganoderma lucidum contained in his mouth fell out. After falling into the small valley, the white deer turned around and galloped away to the southwest. King Ping had been hunting with his father for many years, but he had never seen or heard of such a strange deer. He immediately sent a message to the guards to ride fast and follow the white deer's direction and pursue it desperately. When they reached a ditch slope, the white deer saw that they were about to reach the southern slope if they went further, so they suddenly turned around and headed northwest. There was a small lonely temple there with no villages around. The white deer circled the temple and saw the rider. The team caught up and continued running for more than ten miles, arriving at a sparse village. There is a Nuwa Temple at the edge of the village, and not far away there are two cypress trees hugging each other. The white deer took a nap in the grass under the two cypress trees. As soon as he took a nap, King Ping's guards swarmed to follow him. The white deer got up in fright, broke into the village, dashed from left to right and lost its way. It was only when it reached the halfway slope that it realized it was going in the wrong direction. Then he turned back to the south, descended the original slope from Xiyuan, and entered the reed bushes in the Chan River Valley. Suddenly, he disappeared without a trace.

People are surprised to find that wherever the white deer passes by and the auspicious light shines, it is lush and green, with luxuriant vegetation, hundreds of flowers blooming, poisonous insects and diseases eliminated, livestock prosperous, and people live a long life. .

In order to commemorate this white deer that brought good luck and happiness, people named this plain White Deer Plain.
