After so many years, Zai Zai should be gone, but I haven’t even left a single photo of it. To be precise, it has never taken a photo. (There were no cell phones that could take pictures at that time)
Zai Zai was a dog I had raised. It is said that he has a bit of deer dog blood, so he looks a bit like a deer. The two ears stand up, the tail is semi-short, and the hair is short. It’s just that deer dogs are very small dogs. It's much bigger, it should weigh six or seven kilograms. She is a white female dog with black spots and has given birth to many babies.
Zai Zai was the first dog I raised, and I never raised another dog after Zai Zai.
When it entered my house, it must have been about half a year old. My daughter was 7 years old at that time.
One day, I took my daughter to the pet market. That day was the market day for buying pets. On the market street, apart from flowers, birds, fish and insects, there were rows of cages. Most of the cats, dogs and other strange little animals were kept in cages.
My daughter and I walked down the street just to see the scenery of the market, so that my daughter could see small animals without going to the zoo. We walked around like this, looking west, and just like that, we suddenly saw Zaizai.
It was not put in a cage, but was tied with a rope. The owner holding it was a middle-aged man.
Zai Zai is like a deer next to the man, very energetic. "What kind of dog is this and how much does it cost?" I asked.
The owner said his name is Zai Zai and he is half a year old.
I asked my daughter if she liked it? Her daughter nodded expectantly. So I took it home for 30 yuan. Her mother was working out of town at that time. I thought that after having a cute dog, my daughter would be happier in the future. In fact, I also like dogs very much.
Zai Zai almost ran away when he just arrived home. When I put him on the ground before entering the house, I didn’t expect that as soon as he landed, he wanted to run away. Fortunately, there was a dog leash. I stepped on it, but it left red scratches on my legs. I didn’t get the rabies vaccine either. When others told me I should get it, the best time for protection had passed. I heard that the onset of rabies can last up to fifteen years. Now that time has passed, I don’t have to worry anymore.
When Zai Zai came home for the first time, he peed on my bed several times, which caused me to change all the bedding. He was also beaten, so no one was left at home. When I go to bed, my bedroom door will be closed. Haocai Zai is a smart dog. Once he knew there was no other place to go, he became close to us.
My family lives on the first floor. I let it go outside to play by itself every time. Whenever it comes back, it makes a series of barks. "Zai Zai is back." The neighbor who lives at the door holds the first door. He always shouts to open the door first, and then I open my own door to let him in. Usually it will play outside for a long time every time, and it will only take the initiative to go home when it is hungry or going to bed at night.
Our home is in a large company compound. Not all residents in the compound know me, but everyone in my family should know me. , apart from scratching me on the first day, it has never scratched anyone else.
My daughter often lets Zai Zai run with her in the courtyard. Because of her relationship with Zai Zai, her daughter also gets to know many children. The arrival of Zai Zai brought great joy to my daughter's childhood.
In fact, my neighbors also have dogs. Most of the people in the yard have Pomeranians, which are small, fluffy breed dogs. My neighbors also have Pomeranians, but they mostly take them out on leashes. Because they are breed dogs, they are worried about losing them. Our Zai Zai did not have a leash, so I took it off on the first day he came home. He is not a breed dog, and I prefer to see the dog's freedom. I think he will be happier this way.
Every morning when I wake up, I open the door and let it out. It will go to some unknown place for convenience. Now that I think about it, what I did at that time was wrong, but it is also No one ever said that. We live in a large family compound, and it seems that all the dogs are outside for convenience. No one has ever said anything. I thought dogs should be like this. Now that I think about it, I realize that this is uncivilized. It was the norm then.
Zai Zai often plays outside all day long and only comes back when eating and sleeping. Of course, if I want to let him go home, I just need to leave the door and shout in any direction: "Zai~Zai." Soon, you will see a figure running towards you in the distance. It is our Zai Zai. . When it comes to you, it will quickly turn around next to you, and it will also stand up and put its feet on you. Everyone knows that Zai Zai is the best-behaved dog. He never barks or barks outside, except when he calls the door when he wants to go home.
The child’s grandmother lives in another city. My daughter and I once took Zaizai back to her grandmother’s house. My daughter and I each ride a bicycle, and my daughter has her own small bicycle. The dog ran after us and arrived at grandma’s house in about half an hour. It was panting, and like us, it was very happy.
When it arrives at grandma’s house, it doesn’t run far away. It can still be played outside by itself. It is not afraid of the children at the door. You can touch it. It is really a cute baby. Just a very good dog.
At my grandma’s house, I didn’t recognize the creature, so we let it wander around the house. When we came back from grandma's house, it still followed our bicycles. But later I felt that this would be dangerous to traffic, so I never let it travel long distances with me to another place.
When I was raising my kids, there was no dog food, and I had never heard of it. In other words, they ate whatever I ate. He was thin when he first arrived, but I raised him to be round and plump. He is also very energetic. Maybe because he is free-range, he exercises a lot, and his body is very healthy. Therefore, he has never taken any medicine or injections. I didn’t understand at that time. I needed vaccinations and deworming. Later I heard that there was a pet hospital, and I was surprised. Why is there a hospital for pets?
Zai Zai would go home by himself every time he had enough fun, but he also disappeared twice. The first night I didn't wait for it to come home. I looked for it again and again, but I didn't understand what happened. The second day passed, and the third day also passed. I looked for it every day. My daughter asked, will Zaizai come home? I said I didn't know either.
Without Zai Zai, our lives suddenly became quiet. There was something missing in the family, and there was something missing in our lives, because Zai Zai was already part of the family.
Suddenly, a loud shout came from the window, "Zai Zai is back," I shouted and rushed out. My daughter also went out to greet her overjoyed. We opened the door and Zaizai ran back by himself. It is still panting and rubbing around you as before.
Zai Zai was dirty and thin. He was missing for four days, and time seemed to have passed for a long time. After it ate, I gave it a bath. Zaizai cooperated every time he took a bath. The next few days were the same as before, except that she went out for a while and then came back home. Later, I found out that she was pregnant, and I realized why she disappeared for a few days.
Zai Zai gave birth to four babies in a litter, and only one of the four babies looked a bit like her mother.
Zai Zai is a dog with short hair and slender legs. It has three babies, but they have long hair and short legs. One of them is completely black, and the other two have long hair. Of the fur, only one short-haired baby looks a little like it.
This baby that looked like its mother was later given to her daughter’s sketch class teacher. The teacher named it Dot and Dot, and it followed the teacher’s butt every day.
The baby, who was all black, was given to a neighbor nearby. His name was Bush. Because the Gulf War had just happened at that time, this neighbor hated Bush. He thought that by naming his dog Bush, he could order Bush every day as if it really became the president of a certain country. The good thing is that he called me back, but it didn't mean anything bad to her. But every time he took his little Bush out for a walk, he kept calling Bush Bush, which always made everyone laugh happily. He also felt so proud that he couldn't express it in words.
The other two were also given away and taken to far away places by friends.
Later, Zaizai stayed out at night once, but he was found the next morning. In the next few days, he did not dare to let him go out for too long. After a while, I called it home once, and it came home every time. It was always very obedient.
Finally one day, my daughter and I were leaving Zaizai. We were going to Singapore and Zaizai couldn’t go with us, so I entrusted it to a friend’s house. He said that his My father is retired and lives alone in the countryside, so he can spend time with his father. At this time, Zai Zai has been living with us for almost two years.
The day I took Zaizai away was also the day my daughter and I were leaving. When my friend's car drove up, Zai Zai was still playing outside. I called out, "Zai~ Zai," and Zai Zai came running from a distance. I touched it, and my daughter hugged it again and again. Finally, I held it in my friend’s arms. It didn’t struggle much.
After getting in the car, it struggled and seemed to run away. It was being held, and it seemed to know something. I saw that its eyes were wet. I said let's go. I couldn't bear to look at it for a while. I remembered the way it left. There were really tears in its eyes.
It was 4 years later that I saw Zaizai again.
I went back to China to visit relatives, and we made an appointment one day for my friend to drive us to pick us up to go to his hometown in the countryside. He said while driving the car, Zaizai is now a heroic mother, many puppies in the village are her offspring, and everyone in the village knows that she is my dog. He said that dogs have very good memories. If you go there, they will definitely recognize you.
When I arrived at my friend’s house, Zai Zai was not there, so I yelled “Zi Zai, Zai Zai,” as before. I didn’t see Zai Zai running towards me, so I shouted again. , still no Zai Zai came. My friend said he might have gone to the village. He said, "Come, let's drink first, and it will come back in a while."
Zaizai came back, dirty and much thinner than before. I called him "Zai Zai", but he didn't see any reaction. I don't know if he really forgot or if he just remembered me. Next to its nest, there was a chewed dry and hard steamed bun. My daughter knelt down to pet it, but there was no longer any affection as in the past. After a while, it went out on its own.
I said Zaizai has lost weight. My friend said it was fine. It was very skinny and had never been sick. He said that raising dogs in our countryside is not as meticulous as in the city.
I said it didn’t recognize me. My friend said that maybe if you stay for a while it will become familiar and you will remember it.
"Come and have a drink," the friend said, raising his glass. "We will eat our food, and it will come home again after a while."

When we were eating, Zaizai did not come back. When we left, Zaizai still didn't come back. I shouted at the door, "Zai~Zai," but I didn't see Zai Zai.
Zai Zai, we left, but we didn’t even take a photo...
