Where does Yunzi come from?

Weiqi is an ancient art in China. There are many materials of chess pieces, such as wood, stone and jade, but the most famous one is Yongzi, also known as Yunzi, which is produced in Yongchang, Yunnan.

There are dozens of mineral raw materials fired by Yunzi, including agate and amber in ancient books. Its formula was once lost, but it was restored by organizing old craftsmen to recall and explore. A variety of raw materials are burned in a crucible, and when they are "Dan" in the furnace, they are taken out and placed on a steel plate, and after cooling, they are green. The quality of this "cloud" lies in the formula, temperature and technology. Operating in a high temperature environment makes it difficult to sweat in winter.

Yunzi, Yunnan Weiqi, is one of the "Three Treasures of Yunnan". Originally from Yongchangfu, Yunnan (now Baoshan), it was called "Yunbian" and "Yunyaozi" in ancient times. Now it is produced in Kunming and is a famous chess player at home and abroad.

Yunzi's baizi is as white as the sky, with dark blue spots, hard texture, beautiful and soft color but not harsh, and its shape is simple and rich but not frivolous. Hold it in your hand and look at the light. Bai Zi is pale yellow with a green halo around the sunspot. Lying flat on the chessboard is solemn black and white. Pinched on your fingers, it is warm in winter and cool in summer, which is deeply cherished by Go lovers at home and abroad.

According to historical records, the word Yong began in the Tang and Song Dynasties and flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It was loved by celebrities of all ages and was once a tribute of the royal family. It has the reputation of "Yongziqi is the best in the world". Later, it was made in Kunming, and the quality was more exquisite. Now products are exported to Japan, South Korea, Singapore and other countries.
