The Yuchang Sword is known as one of the ten famous swords in ancient times. It was built during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. It is said to be a brave sword specially used to assassinate King Liao. Many people are curious, why is the fish intestine sword named "Yuchang"? It feels a little less murderous. In fact, there are many theories about the origin of the name of the fish intestine sword. Some say that the patterns on the sword are similar to fish intestines, but this does not refer to real fish intestines, it is just a metaphor. It is also said that the fish intestine sword is named fish intestine because it is small in shape and can be hidden in the belly of the fish. So what is the whereabouts of the Yuchang Sword in history?
The Yuchang Sword ranks eighth among the top ten famous swords in ancient China and is one of the most famous swords in history. According to records in "Historical Records. Biography of Assassins", during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Zhuan Zhu placed a dagger in the belly of a fish to assassinate King Liao of Wu, so it was called the Fish Intestine Sword.
However, with the passage of time, the once famous Divine Sword has now disappeared in the long river of history. The Fish Intestine Sword is no exception, but what makes the Fish Intestine Sword different from other famous swords is that this sword can still be traced, most likely under a pond in Suzhou. What's going on?
Things go back to the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, when the Fish Intestine Sword had changed hands many times and became the beloved sword of King Wu Helu. However, unexpected events occurred. In 496 BC, Helu was injured in the Battle of Wuyue and returned to the west soon after. For the ancients, death was the biggest event in life, and it was necessary to find a feng shui treasured place for burial. In order to fulfill his filial piety, his son Fucha requisitioned 100,000 soldiers and civilians and mobilized all the national power to build a tomb for him in Huqiu. According to "Historical Records", in Helu's tomb, "the coffin was wrapped in three layers of copper coffins, the pool was filled with mercury, and it was buried with golden birds and jade geese." What is even more attractive is that more than 3,000 swords that Helu liked during his lifetime were buried with him, including famous swords such as "Bianzhu" and "Yuchang".
After King Gou of Yue trampled the Wu Kingdom, he went to Tiger Hill to look for the sword, but found nothing. The reason was that he did not know where the tomb door was. Later Qin Shihuang, Sun Quan of the Eastern Wu Dynasty and others also sent people to search for the sword many times, but in the end they found nothing. In other words, the Helu Tomb built in Tiger Hill is indestructible, which also adds a layer of mystery to Tiger Hill. After more than 2,000 years, most of the ancient tombs in history have been stolen, and many historical precious cultural relics have disappeared. But what is certain is that Tiger Hill has never been robbed, and both the ancient tombs and the cultural relics in the tombs are very well preserved. .
In the sixth year of Zhengde in the Ming Dynasty (1511), the then genius Tang Bohu and others visited Huqiu and conducted a comprehensive exploration of Huqiu. It happened that the water in Huqiu's pool had dried up. Tang Bohu and others discovered a cave at the bottom of the pool with a tomb door in it. If this is true, it means that the tomb of King Wu Helu was actually built under the pond, and the fish intestine sword was also hidden deep inside. As for why the world knows that Tang Bohu and others discovered the tomb door? In fact, in 1955, the local department cleaned up the water in the Huqiu pool, and discovered the records of Tang Bohu and others while draining the pool water.
Archaeologists rushed to the scene immediately after hearing the news, conducted archaeological research on the bottom of the pool, and discovered the "tomb gate" recorded by Tang Bohu and others. However, this is only the preliminary judgment of archaeologists. No one knows whether Helu's tomb is really among them. This is because archaeologists did not conduct archaeological excavation after discovering the "Tomb Gate". Some archaeologists even said that "archaeological excavation is absolutely not allowed." Does this mean that archaeologists dare not enter the ancient tombs? In fact, it is not the case. You must know that Tiger Hill is the "No. 1 Mountain in Wuzhong" and is rich in various cultures in history. If the pools in Tiger Hill are archaeologically inspected, it will be a huge blow to the scenic spot. Cause great damage.
Even if the Yuchang Sword and the other 3,000 Spring and Autumn and Warring States swords are in the Helu Tomb, they have never been stolen in history. There is no guarantee whether these famous swords have long since turned into dust. Rather than excavating the fish intestine sword, it is better to retain a sense of mystery and preserve a scenic spot with a long history and culture.
