Jackie Chan's name is a bit complicated. In fact, his surname is not Chen, but Fang, so his son was named Jaycee Chan.
Jackie Chan was born in Hong Kong in 1954, and his parents named him Chen Hongsheng.
Jackie Chan’s father’s name is Fang Daolong. He is a native of Fangqiao Village, Shenxiang Town, Jiujiang District, Wuhu City, Anhui Province. He once learned kung fu and spent time in Nanjing in his early years. When he grew up, he joined the Kuomintang. By chance, He became a Kuomintang military intelligence officer, also known as a military intelligence agent. Because he needed to conceal his true identity when engaging in espionage activities, he changed his surname to Chen and his name to Chen Zhiping.
During the Kuomintang Civil War, Chen Zhiping came to Hong Kong to avoid trouble. In 1954, he gave birth to a son, named Chen Gangsheng, who would later become Jackie Chan.
Jackie Chan did not know these past events until many years later, when his father Chen Zhiping (Fang Daolong) revealed his identity. Only then did Jackie Chan know that his surname was Fang, so he named his son Chen Zhiping. The ancestral name was changed to Fang Zu's name to recognize the ancestor and return to the clan.
But his name has not been changed. He said that after so many years, everyone knows his name, so he will not change it, but his son must change it.
