Haidian Story 226 Haidian West Street (1) New Look and Old Look
Xiaoliu Liu Chapter 340
p>
Come on! Let’s talk about Haidian West Street. When talking about Haidian West Street, we must introduce the intersection where West Street and South Street meet, especially the Haidian Department Store at the corner. This is a well-known name for people in Haidian Town and even the surrounding villages. Big store.
A friend asked: Does this department store still exist? Fortunately, it does exist. We might as well take a look at this department store from now on, and go back picture by picture. Please see Figure 1. This is what the Haidian Department Store looks like today. However, even though it is a department store, it is hard to tell what is sold now. I have not been in it for decades. Friends who are interested can go in and have a look. However, judging from the signboards on the exterior wall, which read: "Martial Saint", "Drunken Noodles" and "Big Plate Chicken", they don't look like a department store. No matter how you look at them, they look a bit like Wu Song and Wu Erlang arriving in Jingyanggang.
Let’s talk about streets. The road on the right in Figure 1 is the Haidian Street (South Street) we just walked through. From the directional arrows marked on the map, we know that Haidian Street is a street due east and west. In 2020, Haidian Street extends to the west for a while. There was no west (left) road before. ?
We see in the picture that we are facing a road with a crossing archway. This is the "Haidian West Street" we are about to enter, now called "Zhongguancun Entrepreneurship Street". Although there is a bell tower in the picture that is not too old, the geographical location of the bell tower and the surrounding streets have not changed, and they are still the same direction as the ancient streets for hundreds of years.
Everyone saw that on the left side of the bell tower is a sloping road called "Xicha". There used to be a bridge not far away called "Longfeng Bridge". Everyone understands, the one who can cross this bridge is either a dragon or a phoenix. It turns out that this inclined road is the road and bridge in front of Kangxi's house more than 300 years ago. Across the Longfeng Bridge is the grand palace gate of Changchun Garden.
Returning to today’s protagonist, the Haidian Department Store in 2020, we don’t care whether it is Wu Sheng’s drunken noodles, or Wu Song’s big bowl of wine, big plate of meat, we Just looking back at history and taking a look at the present and past lives of Haidian Department Store
As shown in Figure 2, this picture is probably from the time period of 2010. The clock tower in the picture is still a clock tower, but it is replaced by the advertising sign of Angel Exchange. Most of it is covered, and the West Street and West Fork Road at your feet remain unchanged. Although the appearance of Haidian Department Store has changed at this time, it is still quite clean. I just hold a cup of coffee and watch the changing world.
As shown in Figure 3, I don’t need to say anything about this picture. You can tell what era it is by looking at the signboard on the department store. 96 is really touching! Look at the clock tower. It's still the same clock tower. The difference is that it's not blocked by advertisements. West Street is still West Street, and Xicha is still Xicha. It is just that it is blocked by busy bicycles.
As shown in Figure 4, let us take a look at the Haidian Department Store in the 1980s. This is the Haidian Department Store built after demolishing the old bungalows (Haidian Department Store). This picture finally allows us to see To the real sign of "Haidian Department Store".
As shown in Figure 5, come on, let’s climb up and take a good look at the whole Haidian Department Store. Good guy, the view is really broad. There are so many mountains, buildings, and roads. The emotional picture contains too much information.
First of all, look at the continuous western mountains, even the "Wang'er Mountain" at the north end where "Old Lady She" looked at her son (now called Baiwang Mountain) are clearly visible. The Wanshou Mountain in the middle of the West Mountain is even more visible. Look at the huge white stone platform under the Foxiang Pavilion. If it were not blocked by the bell tower, the Foxiang Pavilion on the Wanshou Mountain would also be clearly visible. In the 1960s, there were only a handful of buildings with more than two floors in Haidian town, and there were many places in the town where you could see the Xishan Mountains anytime and anywhere.
In the 1970s, two communities were built on the west side of Haidian Town, one is "Furongli" and the other is "Daoxiangyuan".
The five light green tall buildings in the distance are located in Furongli, which was once the location of the well-known "Changchun Garden", the first of the three mountains and five gardens. Dagongmen is on the Fourth Ring Road on the west side of Haidian Bridge today. Of course, there was no Fourth Ring Road when this picture was taken. If people talk about Changchun Garden, they may be a little vague, but the old neighbors must remember that there is a playground in the West Courtyard at Xiaocaoqiao across the West River. School sports games are often held at this playground. There is a coal yard on the east side of the playground. The briquettes or briquettes used by people nearby for heating in winter came from here. The later Furongli Community was built here.
There are several dark and thick tall buildings in Figure 5, which is Daoxiangyuan Community. Nowadays, there is a street in the West District of Zhongguancun called Danling Street. However, historically Danling was not the name of a street but of a lake. So where did this "Dan Leng" come from? According to the research of "Wanquanzhuang Quan Ancestral Temple", the vast spring water flows into eight ditches (Bagou) and then enters the Wanquan River. Then it gathers into a huge lake in front of Changchun Garden and then flows north. This lake is called "Dan". "Lengba". In the 1970s, Wanquanzhuang finally no longer had spring water, so Daoxiangyuan Community was built on Danlingba. When the West District of Zhongguancun was built, the street was named. Perhaps it was to remember the original Danlingpan, or perhaps it wanted to leave a historical memory. Anyway, the name of the lake was changed to the street again.
The most eye-catching building with green glazed tile eaves in Figure 5 is the Haidian Department Store. Downstairs, there is a yellow "Tianjin Dafa" driving west, with no road ahead. , and since then Haidian Street (South Street) has come to an end.
Cars cannot stop. You must leave. There are two options, either turn right or turn left. Let’s turn right first. There are two other ways to turn right. One is Haidian West Street (the street we are about to enter), but the building blocks it and cannot be seen. Another diagonal road is the Xicha and Longfeng Bridge. The emperor is gone, so naturally the Longfeng Bridge is also gone. Only a little bit of the road can be seen on the map. Follow the diagonal road to Liulangzhuang and Xiaocao Bridge (go to Buy briquettes at the Xiyuan playground or coal yard), or turn toward the west gate of Peking University.
If a car turns left, there are two roads, one of which is slightly wider is Suzhou Street. This street intersection is the waterway that the emperor's family took to come to Haidian. After landing, go Suzhou Street is where the intersection of Suzhou Street and the overland South Street comes out.
? Let’s look back at the aerial photos of Haidian. The place where the two green royal roads intersect in the "Look at the pictures and tell the story of Haidian Town" is the place in front of us. As shown in the picture, look at the pictures and tell the story. Haidian Town
Come on! Let’s continue talking about this street intersection. From the picture, Suzhou Street to the left does not look spacious at all. No matter how you say it, this is still the starting point of Suzhou Street. Going south, you pass Ganggou Hutong, Bayi Middle School, and the Taozuo Temple. It extends all the way to Wanshou Temple.
This seemingly narrow left-turn road has another one, leading to Caihefang Hutong. This alley is so unique. The entrance of the alley is particularly narrow. A tricycle is about to pass, and there is a large millstone standing in the corner, which is larger than the millstone on South Street. Caihefang Hutong gets wider and wider as you go in, just like a loudspeaker. Entering through "Sheepfold Hutong" and "Veterinary Zhuang Hutong", and then going further is "Haidian Health Bureau". The big house where the Health Bureau is located is The third house built by Li Lianying in Haidian is also one of the few preserved houses today, called "Chaojiang Spring". Further south are Caihefang Primary School and Haidian Middle School. Both schools were originally the location of "Zeng Gelinqin Residence".
I have mentioned important intersections three times, and I have to go back to this intersection. This is indeed a very important intersection. After Emperor Kangxi built Changchun Garden, if you take the land route, go out of Xizhimen, walk to Beixiaguan, enter Huangzhuang, and come to the intersection via South Street, you can't find it after turning a corner. The emotional family has crossed the Longfeng Bridge to get home.
When he arrived in Yongzheng, he made the Old Summer Palace so beautiful that it was nicknamed "the Garden of Ten Thousand Gardens". When Lao Yong and his family came to this intersection, they rarely went to Longfeng Bridge. Instead, they turned directly to West Street, crossed West Street and went straight to the Old Summer Palace.
This West Street is a new road taken by the royal family. Lao Yong also has to wear new shoes and walk a new road, not to mention he is so hardworking and capable. So he ordered a high-speed imperial road to be built from Xizhimen to the Old Summer Palace, with large stones as the paving material. Good guy, once this high-speed imperial road is completed, it will be called a bright spot, that will be flat, and that will be easy to walk. It is conceivable that this money will be wasted. Someone has calculated that one guy is equivalent to one foot of imperial road. Spend five taels of silver.
In the early 1950s, Haidian South Street, West Street, including Laohudong, were still paved with large stones. Then why were there no big rocks on the road? Haha, take a guess on the street, where did the big stone go? We will unravel this mystery after we have seen the Tiger Cave.
In a flash, Qianlong became the squad leader again and had to take a new road. He found another waterway. After landing at Wanshou Temple, he entered Suzhou Street. Soon after passing the ruined temple, he could get out of the eye mask. Exiting the intersection in front, you don't have to turn around now. You can go directly to West Street to go to Old Summer Palace or Summer Palace.
This intersection has been coming and going for hundreds of years, passing emperors and ministers one after another, until the Empress Dowager Cixi in the late Qing Dynasty. , Maybe the intersection of Suzhou Street is too narrow. What a classy person Lafayette is? I couldn't get into the small alleys, so I personally deployed and built the "Cixi Waterway", and the intersection of Haidian South Street gradually stopped. However, there are exceptions. When Lafayette let his eight loyal friends chase him through the streets, he ran through this intersection early in the morning and fled to Xi'an via the Summer Palace.
