Editor's introduction to the club history

1878-192: Manchester United's predecessor

Manchester United Football Club was founded in 1878, when its name was Newton Heath LYR Team (LYR is the abbreviation of the familiar Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company).

Newton Heath is the name of an ordinary railway site in England. Workers on the construction site release their enthusiasm for football by competing with teams from other departments or other railway companies. They never thought that their team would occupy a place in English football and even international football competitions in the future and become one of the top giants in the world. However, from the day when this team was established, it was doomed that Manchester United's playing method was offensive football with emphasis on team and passion.

Newton Heath, thanks to his big brother Manchester City, insisted on changing its name to Manchester Central, but the city government of Manchester refused to approve it for the simple reason that you are not qualified. Then, Newton Schiff proposed to change its name to Mancheseter Celtic, and this time the Celtic club in Scotland quit.

Celtic is a veritable church team, and its head is called Brother Walfrid. Wolfred was a priest in the Sisters of Notre Dame in his early days. Marist Brothers. With this religious background, the Celtic Club in Scotland is not easy to provoke. On August 8, 1898, Wolfred went directly to the court in London to complain: Newton Heath, not knowing the background of Catholicism, called himself "Celtic" in vain! Newton Schiff Club was indefensible, apologized in person, and publicly apologized to all parties for eight times, which was basically humiliating. On April 26, 192, Newton Schiff's five-year-old "naming movement" finally came to an end. They finally named themselves "Manchester United". In the 26-7 season, Manchester United met Celtic in the Champions League. Celtic fans gestured with the number "8" to laugh at everything that happened after August 8, 1898.

When the Football Association was founded in p>1888, the members who founded Newton Heath team were modest enough to think that they were not worthy to form the Football Association together with Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End. Newton heath didn't join the football association until 1892.

192-199: The formal birth and early glory of Manchester United

The economic situation of Newton Heath was relatively poor, and by the beginning of the twentieth century, the team was in an unsustainable predicament. At this time, a local winery owner named John Henry Davies saved the team. |

Davis decided to inject capital into the club, which enabled him to gain some benefits from the management of the team. Since then, the number of teams has changed, including Manchester Central Team, Manchester Celtic Team and so on. The name of Manchester United, which became famous in the world football in the future, was officially born in April/May 192.

The Rise of the Red Devils

Ernest Mangnar was an important figure who entered Manchester United after Davis. Magnal became the club secretary in 193, and today, he is recognized as the first manager of the club. Among his teams are newly signed goalkeeper Harry Moger and striker Charlie Sagar. The team won the third place in the second division in 193-194 and 194-195. The following 195-196 season was one of the most brilliant seasons in Manchester United's early years. Dick Duckworth, Alex Bell and captain Charlie Roberts helped the team enter the FA Cup. And more importantly, the team was able to stand out from the second division and finally became a first division after 12 years in the football league.

To celebrate the victory, Mangnar hired Billy Mered from Manchester City, a rival in the same city.
