A must-visit check-in spot for Peking University students

① Library: closest to the east side gate, located at the end of the east gate axis, formerly the library of Beijing Normal University. The renovated library has a classic appearance and contains many precious documents and books. It is worthy of being the largest university library in Asia.

②Boyata: It is the "one tower" in the "One Tower Lake Picture". No matter what season you visit, the "Lake Tower Shadow" is very eye-catching. However, the Boya Tower cannot be climbed, and one can only look up at its majestic appearance from the bottom of the tower.

③Weiming Lake: Mirroring the Boya Tower is Weiming Lake. It had no name at first. It was part of Heshen's Shuchun Garden in the Qing Dynasty, and was later assigned to Yanjing University and was managed by Qian Mu. The professor named it.

Highlights: The stone tablet with the words "Weiming Lake" stands beside the lake, making it a popular check-in place. In the southwest of the lake, there is a blue-tailed stone fish. It was originally a decoration in the center of the fountain in front of the Western-style Building in Yuanmingyuan, and it has also become a scene in Weiming Lake.

④West Gate: The only main entrance of a university in China that faces east to west - the West Gate of Peking University. The West Gate was built in 1926 by alumni of Peking University with funds raised. It ends with the ancient pagoda of Yuquan Mountain to the east. It goes against the tradition of Beijing architecture facing north and south, and faces east to west. The style is simple, solemn and elegant, similar to the East Gate of the Summer Palace, and has a strong sense of style. The national style became the only university main entrance facing west in Beijing at that time.

This school gate has gone through more than ninety years of wind, frost, rain and snow, witnessing the magnificent epic of the country’s take-off.
