Liu Bei is a hero and a tyrant; however, he is not a traitor.
1.
First of all, Liu Bei is portrayed as a gentle and elegant image, but in fact Liu Bei is also very courageous, and he has given people the aura of a world hero from the beginning.
When Liu Bei was a child, he played under a tree next to his home. The tree was so big that "children were like the hood of a car." From a distance, it looked like the hood of the emperor's car when he was traveling. Liu Bei said at that time: "As the emperor, I should ride on some chariots." ("The Romance of the Three Kingdoms", "The Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms·Book of Shu·The Biography of the First Lord") From here we can see Liu Bei's young hero. Liu Bei's desire was directly revealed on many occasions. Moreover, this story is fully exaggerated in both romance and official history, and can be considered true.
There is another example. We know that Liu Bei’s son was named Liu Chan, and he also adopted an adopted son, Liu Feng. Take a look at the names of these two people. One is "Feng" and the other is "Zen". The combination is "Feng Chan". Fengchan is a kind of ceremony. In ancient times, Fengchan was a ceremony held by the emperor at the foot of Mount Tai. However, here it is split into two words and placed on Liu Bei's son. This is worth noting. At least it shows Liu Bei's desire to become emperor. Probably due to public opinion at the time, he hid this desire.
The above shows Liu Bei's ambition and heroic nature. He is not a person who lives in peace with the world. On the contrary, he always had a stronger desire in his heart.
In addition, the angry whip can also reflect the rough side of his character. Note that Zhang Fei was not the one responsible for the crime. In order to reflect Liu Bei's image as a "benevolent king", "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" changed the protagonist of the story to Zhang Fei. I have a basis for saying this. It can be found in "The Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms·Book of Shu·The Biography of the First Master": "...the governor came to the county on official business, and the late master asked for an audience. However, there was no way, so he went straight to the governor's post, with a staff of two hundred...".
You can see Liu Bei’s fierce side. People just didn't want to pay attention to Liu Bei, so Liu Bei started having sex with others, which shows that he is very energetic.
2.
And Liu Bei is always regarded as a benevolent person, but in fact many of his benevolence and righteousness are just pretended. When Liu Bei fled Changbanpo, he took 100,000 people with him to flee, but was overtaken by Cao Jun on the way. Liu Bei obviously didn't want these people to actually escape with him, because in this case, it would be impossible for the grain, horses, and baggage, and the people to support the old and the young, to escape very fast, and even he might not be able to escape if he didn't. When Liu Bei was overtaken by Cao's army, he abandoned the people and fled. Of course, it is self-evident what the outcome would be for the people who followed Uncle Liu. This is also proven.
When Liu Bei was entrusted with an orphan in Yongan in 223, Liu Bei once said to Zhuge Liang that if Liu Chan had no virtue or talent, let Zhuge Liang succeed Liu Chan as the emperor of Shu. In fact, since ancient times, the throne has been "the family of the world". Where can such a thing exist? After all, Liu Chan is his son, and his status in Liu Bei's heart is definitely far better than that of Zhuge Liang. This statement sounds like lies. So the seemingly benevolent and righteous world actually has a lot of subtext. This sentence actually implies that Zhuge Liang should assist carefully and not go offside. It is a well-intentioned warning - as expected, Zhuge Liang kowtowed and said he didn't dare, "I will do my best" or something like that. It can be seen that Liu Bei was very scheming and used a strategy at the last moment to ensure his son's success. Because Liu Bei knew very well that Liu Chan had no experience in political struggle and could not outwit Zhuge Liang and other veterans. Judging from these tricks, he doesn't look like a benevolent person at all.
And Liu Bei is good at crying. Most of his crying was filled with emotion; for example, he cried after Guan Yu's death. He couldn't stop crying for days and nights, and Zhuge Liang couldn't persuade him. But some people cry for another purpose. Such as bidding farewell to Xu Shu and so on. When Lu Su went to ask Liu Bei for Jingzhou, Liu Bei burst into tears and pretended, "If Jingzhou is returned, where will I live?" In fact, he was pretending to be pitiful to Sun Quan, leaving Lu Su and Sun Quan helpless. Due to pressure, the time to return to Jingzhou was postponed for a while. In fact, this is just a delaying tactic. Therefore, there is an idiom "Liu Bei borrowed money from Jingzhou - what he borrowed will never be returned." Of course, from our current perspective, this strategy may not be wise.
It can be seen that some of Liu Bei's benevolence and righteousness are actually a pretense, which fully demonstrates his spiritual strategy.
Not only did he gain fame, but he also gained real benefits. With his ability to cry, Liu Bei also earned the sympathy of others.
3.
As mentioned just now, Liu Bei looks honest and honest, but in fact his power and strategy are not weaker than those of Cao Cao and others. A typical example is Cao Liu's "Discussing Heroes over Cooking Wine". When Cao Cao said that we were the only heroes in the world, a thunder struck and Liu Bei was frightened and dropped his chopsticks. In fact, what does a dignified man fear from thunder? It is more believable to say that Liu Bei is afraid of Cao Cao. Because Cao Cao knew his abilities. Here Liu Bei deliberately let Lei scare away his chopsticks, which shows his strategy and made Cao Cao put aside his doubts about him.
In addition, when Liu Bei lived under Tao Qian, Tao Qian wanted to give Xuzhou to Liu Bei. Liu Bei gave in three times in a row, and finally "reluctantly accepted". When Tao Qian died, Liu Bei agreed to serve as Xuzhou's pastor. This time Liu Bei's reputation spread far and wide, and his moral character began to be widely praised. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with this incident. At most, it reflects Liu Bei's humility. But in fact, once Tao Qian died, Liu Bei's own prestige increased; and when Tao Qian was alive, the people of Xuzhou loved Tao Qian more than Liu Bei. The balance between the two here shows Liu Bei's wisdom. He knew to bide his time. Moreover, if you accept it prematurely, you will create a large number of enemies for yourself; Cao Cao attacked Tao Qian in anger because his father Cao Song was killed in Tao Qian's territory. If Liu Bei takes over Xuzhou prematurely, it will be very disadvantageous for him.
4.
Liu Bei's strategy is also reflected in his employment, recognition of people, asking for help, and winning people's hearts. In fact, it sounds a bit ugly to win over people's hearts, but this is a necessary method for Liu Bei. Liu Bei's strategy of rallying people's hearts is also very clever.
The most typical one is the "A Dou throwing" incident in Changbanpo. Zhao Yun went through life and death and brought Adou to Liu Bei safely. However, Liu Bei threw Adou on the ground and said, "I almost lost one of my generals because of you." In fact, in Liu Bei's heart, the successor of a great cause must be more important than a general. The conclusion is that Liu Bei was just pretending to do this. But at this time, Liu Bei couldn't care less in order to show his ambition. In the eyes of outsiders, this play has become a portrayal of Liu Bei's selflessness and love for his general. Sure enough, Zhao Yun bowed his head and said, "Although Yun was so cruel, he can't retaliate." This deepened the relationship between Liu Bei and Zhao Yun, and left a good story. Therefore, although there are people in Liu Bei's group who are disobedient and rebellious, Zhao Yun is truly and absolutely loyal to Liu Bei, so later generations will judge Zhao Yun as a typical foolish loyalty. Putting this aside, Liu Bei's strategy of gathering talents is indeed high. This case can be said to have educated all the troops, and its impact is immeasurable.
Let’s talk about Liu Bei’s three visits to the thatched cottage. This incident has always been a good talk among people. It can reflect Liu Bei's admiration for the wise men. This point is undisputed, but "visiting the thatched cottage three times" is just one of Liu Bei's methods to recruit wise men. Moreover, after Zhuge Liang was called into Liu Bei's camp, his official position was not high at the beginning.
There is another thing, that is, Liu Bei's comment on Ma Di: "Exaggeration is not effective." This sentence also confirmed the fiasco of Ma Di's street pavilion. In fact, Ma Su was a staff officer and was not suitable for the important task of being a general. Here we can also see Liu Bei's ability to recognize people. Maybe this evaluation of Ma Di is not pertinent, but at least it proves that Liu Bei sees people further than Zhuge Liang.
Speaking of Zhuge Liang, we have to talk about the story of Liu Bei’s three visits to the thatched cottage. In order to find wise men, Liu Bei visited Zhuge Liang three times and finally achieved his goal. At that time, Cao Cao and Sun Quan may not have noticed the words of Wolong Fengchu and Mr. Sima Hui: "Wolong Fengchu, whoever wins one person will win the world"; and Liu Bei was able to get Zhuge Liang because he recruited Xu Shu very well. From this point of view, Liu Bei's skills in discovering talents are also very high. He noticed talents that others ignored.
5.
Of course, Liu Bei is not always so powerful. He is also a man of temperament, that is, he is also a "person". After Guan Zhang was killed, he ignored the opposition of all ministers and launched a war against Wu. This scene is also somewhat tragic.
"As far as historical facts are concerned, this sentence is fair. Liu Bei is indeed a hero.
This is my opinion. As for what Mr. Yi Zhongtian thinks, it is not within the scope of my consideration. Different people have different opinions. These are My point of view is to answer as "I"?
As for my husband's view of him as a "treacherous hero":
1. "I am a member of the Han family." : Failed to pass the test. But in that era where heroes are emerging, it is necessary to establish authority for oneself. It is understandable. Why is Liu Bei so treacherous?
2. Three concessions to Xuzhou: The best way to avoid making enemies for yourself. If I were Liu Bei, I would not ask for Xuzhou. Maybe Liu Bei did not expect the consequences of accepting Xuzhou at the time, but he was truly humble. Drinking on heroes: The best strategy to avoid suspicion and save one's life. In fact, Liu Bei is really afraid of Cao Cao, so he uses tactics; instead of being afraid of thunder, it can explain Liu Bei's character from here on. It seems to be very cunning, but one thing cannot last through Liu Bei's life. It is worth doing to get rid of future enemies.
3. Annex Liu Zhang: A way to get the base. After all, Liu Zhang is not as good as Liu Bei. Of course, in order to be justified, Liu Bei must give a lot of explanations, so don't worry about him.
4. Fighting Adou: It enhances the cohesion of the generals, but he is still called "treacherous hero". Inappropriate. This is just a strategy.
5. In order to stabilize the country, wouldn't Liu Bei ask this question? It’s better not to go into it too deeply.
Perhaps from the perspective of specific examples, Liu Bei has shown his "heroic" side in some things; but "heroic" is not a "treacherous hero", whether it is official history or novels. They are all quite sure of Liu Bei's character. If Liu Bei's "hero" image has a tendency, it is more of a "hero" rather than a "treacherous hero"?
In addition, some of these examples come from "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms". ”, some of which are from official history and are no longer known, so we should be careful in judging the images of some characters?
Supplement: If Liu Bei can be regarded as a traitor, heroes such as Sun Quan and Yuan Shao can also become traitors. Liu Bei is also a hero. Why does it mean that he is a traitor just because he develops and strengthens himself? I know that traitor is not a derogatory term, but it is still worse to say that Liu Bei is actually Cao Cao, because in many historical materials. Both Cao Cao and the legend give people the image of a traitor; while Liu Bei's image of a traitor is not clear yet. We have made some perceptual inferences based on the facts, so it is necessary to downgrade him to a hero. Judging from the situation of the heroes fighting for hegemony in the late Eastern Han Dynasty, Liu Bei is a hero. Being able to win a place in the world is enough to show his heroism.
