Why are all Russian women called "baby"?

Russian surnames have feminine and masculine suffixes. For example, if a man's surname is "Makarov", the "husband" in it is the masculine suffix. Others will know that he is a man by looking at his surname. If he were a woman, it would be "Makarova" with the feminine suffix.

That’s why most Russian women’s surnames have “baby” after them. In addition, a few use other feminine suffixes.
