How did the typhoon get its name? What is the basis?

Because there may be multiple typhoons in the ocean at the same time, the joint typhoon warning center (now moved to Hawaii) set up by the U.S. military on Guam used to give names to each typhoon in World War II for easy identification. The first names were all women, and later in 1979, male names were added. Since 2, the naming of typhoons has been changed to the responsibility of the International Meteorological Organization.

At present, the names of typhoons in the Northwest Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea are provided by 14 members of the International Meteorological Organization in East Asia, each with ten names, which are divided into five groups.

The actual naming work was entrusted to the Japan Meteorological Agency in the region. Whenever a tropical cyclone in the northwest Pacific or the South China Sea is designated as a tropical storm by the Japan Meteorological Agency, it is given a name according to the above list and a four-digit number at the same time. The first two digits of the four digits are the year, and the last two digits are the serial number of the year. For example, 312, the No.12 tropical cyclone in 23, was named "Korowan"; 313 is the 13th tropical cyclone in 23, named "Du Fu".
