Tug of war has a long history in China. As early as the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the activity of tug-of-war existed. However, it was not called tug-of-war at that time, but was called "Gouqiang" or "Gou-drawing". It later evolved into the popular "Gou-throwing Game" among the people in Jingchu area.
In November 2015, the Executive Subsidiary Body of the Intangible Heritage Committee of UNESCO gave the opinion of "supplementary information" and believed that relevant instructions need to be improved, which means that it is only half sure to be selected, but the relevant information of the above four countries The people worked together and finally succeeded in applying the "Tug of War Competition and Ceremony" to the World Heritage List.
