Shangguan Wan'er, Shangguan Jun, Shangguan Ding.
Shangguan Zhaorong was born in 664 and died in 710. Her grandfather, Shangguan Yi, was killed by Wu Zetian because he drafted an edict for Tang Gaozong to abolish Wu Zetian. Shangguan Wan'er was born as a maid in the inner court with her mother Zheng. When she was 14 years old, she was familiar with poetry and books and was extremely intelligent. Once Wu Zetian asked her a question on the spot, she could write a beautiful essay in a flash. Wu Zetian then exempted her from her status as a slave and allowed her to take charge of the imperial edicts in the palace.
Subsequently, Shangguan Wan'er was placed in a high position by Wu Zetian and was in charge of making imperial edicts in the palace for many years. During the reign of Emperor Zhongzong of the Tang Dynasty, she was named Zhaorong and had a prominent status. She once proposed to expand the library and add more bachelors. During this period, she presided over Fengya and commented on the world's poetry on behalf of the court. She and her grandfather had a great influence on the formation and development of poetry in the early Tang Dynasty. She "weighed" the literary world at that time with her extraordinary literary wisdom.
