The origin of Du Su Rui comes from South Korea.
The origin of the name "Dusuri" was proposed by South Korea, and its meaning is a raptor, an eagle. This name was decided at the 30th meeting of the World Meteorological Organization Typhoon Committee in 1997 and is used for naming tropical cyclones in the northwest Pacific and South China Sea. This naming list contains 140 names, provided by the 14 member countries and regions of the Asia-Pacific region of the World Meteorological Organization.
It was originally called "Nabi", but it was replaced because the Korean pronunciation Nabi was similar to the Arabic word "Prophet". South Korea called it "Eagle", the Korean pronunciation Doksuri, and the Chinese transliteration "Du" Su Rui". So far, this is the third time the name "Dusuri" has been used.
Dangers caused by typhoons:
1. Strong winds: One of the most obvious characteristics of typhoons is the powerful wind. Strong winds can cause buildings to collapse, trees to break, and objects to fly, which is extremely powerful. The higher the wind speed, the wider the area affected by the wind and the more severe the damage.
2. Heavy rains and floods: Typhoons are accompanied by heavy rainfall, which may cause heavy rains and floods. Heavy rains can cause rivers, streams and other water bodies to overflow, causing urban waterlogging and flash floods. Flooding can inundate low-lying areas and damage farmland, homes and infrastructure.
3. Storm surge and waves: The strong winds brought by typhoons may form storm surges, that is, seawater is blown up to form huge waves. Storm surges can erode coastlines, flood coastal areas, and cause damage to maritime traffic and port facilities.
