Tang Sanzang's real name is Chen Yi.
Tang Priest, also known as Xuanzang, was originally named Chen Yi, a native of Gou family in Luozhou (now yanshi city, Luoyang, Henan Province), who was first born in Yingchuan. A famous monk in the Tang Dynasty, the founder of Faxiangzong, was honored as "Master Sanzang", later commonly known as "Tang Priest".
Jiang Liuer is the birth name of Tang Priest. The origin of its name: Because a bad man killed Tang Priest's father, his mother put him in a wooden basin or a board, let the river take him away, and was saved by the old monk, so it was named Jiang Liuer.
Xuanzang became a monk when he was young, and his parents died early. After becoming a monk at the age of 13, he visited famous Buddhist teachers all over the world, and successively learned the Confucian classics such as Taking Mahayana, Miscellaneous Abhidharma's Theory of Mind, Theory of Accomplishment, Theory of Giving Up All Things, and Mahayana Sutra from Hui Xiu, Dao Shen, Dao Yue, Fa Chang, Monk Debate, and Xuan Hui, and gained more and more achievements.
Translation of Classics
Since the 19th year of Zhenguan, I have been mainly engaged in the translation of Classics for about 2 years, and I have translated seventy-five books and 1,335 volumes successively, including Maharaja Sutra, Jie Shen Mi Sutra, Great Bodhisattva Tibetan Sutra, Yoga Teacher's Theory of Land, Great Bodhisattva's Theory of Understanding, and All of them.
He also translated Laozi and The Theory of Mahayana Faith into Sanskrit and introduced them to India. I will write twelve volumes of "The Tale of the Western Regions of Datang" based on my experiences on my journey to India.
