The characteristics of polysomnography show that patients suddenly wake up from REM sleep during the attack. The diagnosis of this disease is mainly based on clinical features and polysomnography during the attack. It should be differentiated from sleep disorders such as night terrors, which occur in NREM phase and can be differentiated by polysomnography.
