Ball valve, gate valve and angle valve. What's the difference? What's it for?

First of all, the concept is different.

1, ball valve

Ball valve, a valve whose opening and closing parts (balls) are driven by the valve stem and rotate around the axis of the ball valve. It can also be used for fluid regulation and control. The V-shaped ball valve with hard seal has a strong shear force between its V-shaped ball core and the metal valve seat of hard-faced cemented carbide, which is especially suitable for media containing fibers and tiny solid particles.

2. Gate valve

Gate valve is a kind of opening and closing component, and its movement direction is perpendicular to the direction of fluid. Gate valves can only be fully opened and closed, and cannot be adjusted or throttled.

The gate valve is sealed by the contact between the valve seat and the gate. Generally, the sealing surface will be covered with metal materials to increase the wear resistance, such as 1Cr 13, STL6, stainless steel, etc. There are rigid gates and elastic gates. According to the different gate valves, gate valves can be divided into rigid gate valves and elastic gate valves.

3. Angle valve

Angle valve is an angle globe valve, similar to ball valve, and its structure and characteristics are modified from ball valve. The difference with the spherical valve is that the outlet of the angle valve forms a 90-degree right angle with the inlet. Angle valve is also called triangle valve, Angle valve and Angle-folding water valve. This is because the pipeline is in a 90-degree angle at the angle valve, so it is called angle valve, angle valve and angle-folding water valve.

Second, the use is different?

1, ball valve

Because the material of valve seat sealing ring of ball valve is usually rubber, nylon and PTFE, its service temperature is limited by the material of valve seat sealing ring. The cut-off function of ball valve is accomplished by the mutual compression of metal balls between plastic valve seats under the action of medium (floating ball valve).

Under the action of certain contact pressure, the seat sealing ring is deformed elastically and plastically in some areas. This deformation can compensate the manufacturing accuracy and surface roughness of the ball and ensure the sealing performance of the ball valve.

2. Gate valve

Gate valves are widely used and will be used in some cutting equipment. The cut-off diameter DN of the device is ≥ 50 mm, of course, sometimes the cut-off device with small diameter ratio will also use the gate valve. The function of the gate valve is to move the closing member (door) in the vertical direction along the center line of the channel. Gate valves are mainly used for cutting off in pipelines.

3. Angle valve

The valve body of angle valve has three ports: water inlet, water control port and water outlet, so it is called triangle valve. Of course, the angle valve is also improving. Although there are still three ports, there are also angle valves that are not angular. Industrial angle valve: except that the valve body is right-angled, other structures are similar to straight-through single-seat valves.

Third, the characteristics are different.

1, ball valve

The sealing performance is good, but all the load borne by the ball on the working medium is transferred to the outlet sealing ring, so it is necessary to consider whether the sealing ring material can bear the working load of the ball medium, and the ball may deviate when it is impacted by high pressure. This structure is generally used for medium and low pressure ball valves.

The ball of the ball valve is fixed and does not move after being pressed. Ball valves with fixed balls all have floating seats. After being pressed by the medium, the valve seat moves, so that the sealing ring is pressed tightly on the sphere to ensure sealing. Bearings are usually installed on the upper and lower shafts of the ball, which has small operating torque and is suitable for high-pressure and large-caliber valves.

2. Gate valve

1) light weight

The main body is made of high-grade ductile iron, which is about 20%~30% lighter than the traditional gate valve and convenient to install and maintain.

2) Flat brake seat

The traditional gate valve is often blocked by stones, wood blocks, cement, iron filings, sundries and other foreign bodies in the groove at the bottom of the valve after the water pipe is flushed, which easily leads to water leakage. The bottom of the elastic seat sealing gate valve adopts the same flat bottom design as that of the water pipe machine, which is not easy to block impurities and makes the fluid unimpeded.

3) Integral packaging

Both inside and outside the gate are coated with high-quality rubber. European rubber vulcanization technology ensures the accurate geometric size of vulcanization gate, and the rubber is firmly connected with ductile iron gate, which is not easy to fall off and has good elastic memory.

3. Angle valve

1, the flow path is simple, and the dead zone and vortex zone are small. With the aid of the scouring effect of the medium itself, it can effectively prevent the medium from blocking, that is, it has good self-cleaning performance.

2. The flow resistance is small, and the flow coefficient is larger than that of a single-seat valve, which is equivalent to that of a two-seat valve.

Suitable for places with high viscosity, suspended solids and granular fluids, or places requiring right-angle piping. Its flow direction is generally from the bottom to the outside.
