Golden fly The golden fly, also known as the golden fly, golden fly, and fly fly, is a small song insect of the family Orthoptera. Because its body shines like gold and its chirping sound is as crisp as the sound of a metal bell, it is called the "golden fly" by breeders. This song insect is regarded as the best among many song insects because of its petite and exquisite body, beautiful and cute shape, and pleasant sound. The golden fly is 7 to 9 mm long and about 3.5 mm wide. It looks like a pocket-sized cricket, small and cute. It is golden yellow all over, has a pair of green compound eyes, and is slightly black under the golden forewings. Its tentacles are slender and long, and the length can be more than 1 times its body length. There are three colors from the base to the tip: brown at the base, white in the middle, and black at the tip, which is interesting and peculiar. The forewings of this songbird are well-developed, wide and long, almost reaching the top of the tail. The front and rear wings are hard and thick, with a metallic luster. The front left wing is thin and transparent, folded under the right wing. There is a pair of tail whiskers behind the body, separated in a figure-eight shape, and the front, middle and back pairs of legs are all longer. The hind limbs are long and strong, allowing them to jump powerfully and crawl quickly. The female is larger than the male, with a brown ovipositor at the end of the tail, which is slightly curved upward.
