One of the four great heavenly masters of Taoism, the founder of Zhengyi Jingming Sect, the "Loyal and Filial God", commonly known as "Xu Zhenjun".

Xu Xun felt sad, folded his crossbow and returned home, where he began to live in the gold of Tuoxi Mountain. He practiced Taoism in his house. "He was well versed in classics and history, and had written books on astronomy, geography, calendars, and prophecies about the five elements. He was especially fond of immortal training. He studied under the famous Taoist priest Wu Meng and was known as the True Lord of Dadong.

Later, when he saw that the Jin Dynasty was about to be in chaos, he abandoned his official position and returned eastward, traveling around the world in search of the best way. He once said that he had met a sage who taught him the "Purifying Method of the Supreme Spiritual Treasure" and the method of killing dragons and capturing monsters. Legend has it that he once suppressed dragons and killed snakes to eliminate harm for the people. His Taoism was superb and his voice was widely heard, and many people asked him to become his disciples. In the fourth year of Emperor Yuan's Daxing in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (321), Xu Xun lived in seclusion at the old site of Meixian Temple in the southern suburbs of Nanchang, and founded a Taoist temple named Taiji Temple, with the title "Jingming Zhenjing" on his forehead, and established the Jingming Taoist sect. Its purpose is "Pure Ming, Loyalty and Filial Piety". Legend has it that Xu Xun lived to be 136 years old, and in the second year of Ningkang in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (374), his family ascended to immortality from the Xishan Mountain in Yuzhang.

Liu Yu, a Taoist priest of the Yuan Dynasty, used "Jingming" as the name of his sect, regarded "Jingming Zhongxiao Complete Book" as the main classic, and respected Xu Xun as the ancestor of the sect. The altar of this sect is called "Jingming Zongtan".
