Shanghai Collection Association
On June 10, 1986, the Shanghai Collection Appreciation Society was born in Shanghai Bund. On the same day, the "Collectors" magazine was founded, which was the first in China. Provincial and municipal collection organizations and the first collection journal.
On January 4, 1987, the Shanghai Collection and Appreciation Society was renamed the Shanghai Collection and Appreciation Association. Wu Shaohua was elected as the president, and Wang Chengde was appointed as the secretary-general. They adopted the suggestions of Mr. Zhou Weizhi, consultant of the association and chairman of the All-China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. The eight-character purpose of "appreciation, knowledge seeking, friendship, and creation" was determined.
In November 1989, the Shanghai Collection Appreciation Association was officially affiliated with the Municipal Cultural Bureau and became a social group that unified and guided Shanghai’s private collections under the leadership of the government. In 1991, the Shanghai Collection Appreciation Association became the first municipal-level association registered with the Shanghai Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, and was also the earliest collecting legal person association in my country. In July 2004, the Shanghai Collection Appreciation Association was renamed the Shanghai Collection Association.
The conference magazine "Collector" is a window that reflects the characteristics of the association. It not only reports on colorful collection activities, but what is even more eye-catching is the series of comments on the "Collection Forum" on the front page, which are comprehensive, systematic and forward-looking. Many of the wonderful comments have also been published by "People's Daily" and "China Youth" "Newspaper", "China Cultural Relics News", "Liberation Daily", "Xinmin Evening News" and "Collection" magazine and other newspapers reprinted it, attracting widespread attention from the society. At present, "Collector" newspaper has been renamed as "Shanghai Collector" newspaper, and has developed from bimonthly to monthly, and its circulation has also increased from 2,000 to 8,000. In addition, the editorial department also regularly compiles and prints special color editions of the "Shanghai Collector" newspaper, with a circulation of more than 10,000 copies. Its radiation coverage and influence are eye-catching.
