How to treat spastic paraplegia?

Spastic paraplegia is a syndrome characterized by progressive muscle tone increase, muscle weakness and scissor gait of lower limbs. This is an autosomal dominant genetic disease.

Mainly in childhood or adolescence, there are slightly more men, and the typical symptoms are slow progressive spasm and weakness of both lower limbs.

But the severity is uncertain. Some patients may eventually need a wheelchair, while others don't need any assistive devices.

The main treatment and preventive measures, there is no special treatment for the cause of this disease, mainly symptomatic treatment of baclofen and benzodiazepines can induce muscle relaxation, and physical therapy is needed to improve muscle strength, reduce muscle atrophy and prevent muscle spasm.
